I know someone who does just that because they hate food shopping so much. I have to say I would worry about the quality of the fruit and veg that might get picked for you.

There are no phone numbers starting with 555 at all.

Yes there are. They exist in Russia around Moscow, in Hungary, in Australia, and 555-1212 plus the area code in some areas links to a directory assistance.

But that's the only one. All other 555 #s I know of are only used for fictitious purposes, like in movies/TV shows/etc.

I found a site that lists all the 555 numbers used in TV shows and movies...I wonder if it still exists.

I think it might be safer to take the Metra from the 57th St station, that's where the South Shore runs through too.  The Green Line ends up in a semi-sketchy neighborhood according to my friend...

If you're going downtown, I'd take the Green Line.  However, the Metra trains are hella nicer.

Subject: Re: The go anywhere thread

Written By: Sister Morphine on 01/15/07 at 2:03 am

I believe the Metra stops at a point close to Michigan and Randolph which is where all the cool stuff is :)  But from there we'd have to take one of the El's to get to Wrigley when Jason gets old enough to avoid foul balls.

I think the Red Line would be your best bet to get to Wrigley.  And yes all the cool isht is over there.

Subject: Re: The go anywhere thread

Written By: Sister Morphine on 01/15/07 at 2:14 am

The Red Line stops in an even shadier neighborhood than the Green Line does :D  I know because I drove through tonight trying to get back to I-94 and Jess was like "Dude, we're in the ghetto" all scared-like.  Usually she doesn't care about the ghetto but I thought that was amusing that it was shady enough for her to actually say something.

Don't be afraid to take the El just because of the neighborhoods they stop in.  I took them all the time.  And the Dan Ryan is a bitch.  I hated driving that thing.

Subject: Re: The go anywhere thread

Written By: Sister Morphine on 01/15/07 at 6:52 pm

Oh yeah, that's cool.  We usually take I-94 because I-90 is a rip and we can get to Indiana in the same amount of time/gas without having to cough up the $2.50 for the toll.  I think I'd rather take the Metra to downtown where all the El's converge and then take the appropriate El to wherever we're going :)  Once you're on the train it's fine but I wouldn't want my family walking around in the stops closest to wherever we'd live were we to move to IL.

Gonna miss IN though...even if people here drive like crap :D

The people in Georgia drive worse.  1/4 of an inch of rain hits the pavements, we have accidents from the 75/85 split all the way to the Perimeter.  That's basically from Atlanta to where I live.  It's insane.

There's something really grating about AABB AABB rhyme schemes..
So you don't like it when lines 1 and 2 rhyme, and lines 3 and 4 have their own rhyme?

I'm guessing "grating" means something negative as an adjective. :-\\

The battery has to run out sometime.

Speaking of batteries running out, I bought a digital watch in April 1995; it had a battery that was supposed to last for only 2 years. Come 1997, it was still going strong. The battery didn't run out on it until April 2006! :o :o I guess that's what happens when you keep something like that in good condition for a long time. So instead of 2 years, that battery stayed alive for 11 years.

Once around 20 years ago when I hadan early form of digital watch, the battery did run out. I went to a watch specialist for the make of watch I had  and I was told it would cost me £5 for the new battery. I walked away for I considered it too much for a battery. The next day I discovered a good cheap store that had a whole range of batteries, and after taking the old battery out and comparing size, etc. I purchased one for 50p, then the watch worked prefectly.

That's nice, Philip. However, like I said above, I do not wish to replace the battery in my old digital watch. Since my graduation from high school in 1998 I have had a kinetic watch that does not utilize a battery.
