How about a thread of useless trivia? We all know stuff that we will most likely never have a need for so why not take this opportunity to use it? :D

Also, the toilets in The Rover's Return go directly into Ken Barlow's front room. Just the way the studios are set up.  :)

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died the same day-July 4th, 1826-the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Indepedence which they both signed. Adams last words were "Jefferson still survives" but Jefferson had died 3 hours before. Jefferson's last words were about his friend/rival Adams. (Can't remember the exact quote)

Hey, I actually did know that.
Did you know that chances are very good it wasn't Eli Whitney that invented the cotton gin but one of his slaves?  Sounds reasonable to me that the man who was actually having to do the work would invent an easier way to do it.

To put it into perspective, the 1980 Soviet squad is comparible to the 1992 US Olympic Basketball team.  That team (for those that might not remember) consisted of:

When The Flintstones first aired on ABC in 1960, it was strictly the story of a "modern stoneage fam-a-lee." However, by 1964, ratings began to sag and eventually hit a skid that even a special guest appearance by Mickey Marble himself couldn't reverse.

That is when producers decided to create a new character which would inject a little more "Yabba dabba doo" into the stale show. That character was The Great Gazoo, an alien banished from his home planet and sent to Earth for the explicit purpose of giving advice to Fred and Barney. While some enjoyed Gazoo's alien antics, equal numbers were appalled at the stunt casting which added a futuristic element to a prehistoric show, considering it even more offensive than The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones. The Great Gazoo was a controversial figure in his time.

But Where is He Now?

Working on a weekly, animated TV show is exhausting, and coupled with the stress of simultaneously being loved and hated by millions, it can burn out even the most resilient of performers. After ABC aired the final episode of The Flintstones on April 1, 1966, The Great Gazoo took some much-needed time off.

IMO The Great Gazoo is alive and well and living amongst us on these boards!!!    ;)

On October 8th, 1871 on a dry, windy day, following a long, hot summer the conditions were ripe for a fire.
A disaster of epic proportions. Afterwards, an entire town lay in ruins. Some reports put the number of dead
at about 1,200, others at 1,500, but nobody is 100% sure. There wasn't enough after the fire to tell. The intense
heat split boulders in two, firefighters dropped their buckets and ran for their lives. Witnesses said the very air was burning.

By now you're probably thinking about the Great Chicago Fire but you would be wrong. You would have to go 300 miles
north, to Wisconsin, and a boomtown called Peshtigo to locate the remnants of the fire that's been called the worst in
American history.

Did you know, the Pestigo fire occured on the very night, at the very instant that Chicago was also burning down. By the
time the few, suffering survivors of Peshtigo could get word to the outside world, Chicago had already grabbed the headlines.
