i love that movie. love it, love it, love it. i've seen it 1,000,000,000,000 times.

that said, that's about as close to boot camp, or to war, as i ever wanna get. a friend of mine enlisted in the army, sorta a bookish type like me, and he sends me a picture two weeks later where he's standing in front of an american flag and HIS EYES ARE WIDE AS SAUCERS. he looks like he's been transported into timothy mcveigh-land. he later explains that like 15 seconds before they took that picture they'd injected that experimental vaccine cocktail that they give all the new recruits right into his backside.

The thing I used to have is something I drew once... on the chalkboard at school was this odd series of scribbles.. I erased the stray marks and added a cross and bucket to it, and that's what it became.

It's a person, kinda... it's really some strange bastardization of all the themes that come up in my sketches (a concealed face, religious icons, fire, and liquid receptors).
