I know I'm not Phil, but.............................
A rat race is a term used for an endless, self-defeating pursuit. It conjures up the image of the futile efforts of a laboratory rat trying to escape whilst running around a maze or in a wheel.

That's exactly how I am. Many times I just won't post anything at all because it would take to long to get my point across perfectly. ;D

Yeah, sometimes I won't bother if I know it'll take me forever to post what I wanna say (at times I don't have the energy, lol).
However, what's weird (in a good way!) with me is my long posts have sometimes helped me get something across in a shorter time.
I was just looking through some old posts I saved in Word from boards I was on in like 1998 (glad I did since some are now defunct) and I was thinking, Man, my past self sure was a blabbermouth. I could say that in one paragraph now. Good thing he becomes me! ;D

Yeah, I noticed as I get older it becomes easier to find the right words to explain things. Maybe I'm just more in touch with how I'm feeling. :)

Well it's been a good couple of days musically. Found tons of songs on some illegal site (wont mention it here) as well as bought a few good alternative rock CD's from a 2nd hand CD store. 8)

Went to Vegas this weekend to meet a bunch of people from a different board. It was a blast. I actually won. I put $5 into a slot machine, played for a couple of minutes and won $100. I walked away right then and there. I know myself and if I had tried to continue to win on it I would have lost it all.

I'm (hopefully) going to Reno next month!
I did a cartwheel today... for the first time in probably 25 years. The little kid next door asked me if I could do one... so I decided to try and see if I still could. And, I can! :D
It made me feel like a little kid.

Wow, this was on page six! :o As for the good news, my youngest daughter found out today she's going to be on the Homecoming court next friday night. She really only went into it as a fluke, but she got voted in, so she's pretty surprised. And my oldest daughter got was offered a new job last week, but when she told her present employer he begged her to stay and gave her a $2.00 an hour raise! Looks like things are looking up around here! 8)

I enjoyed watching the Angels vanquish the Yankes last night. It was the second time in four years when the Yankes were knocked out of the playoffs in the Division Series. And both times it was by the Angels. 8)

Thu 13th: Going out with my friends from work for the evening
Sat 15th: Going out with friend friends for a night out on the town

Speaking of special days, we've had our little dog, Chloe, for exactly 1000 days. (I figured that out myself. The day we got her  January 16th, 2003  was exactly one thousand days ago. We had applied to adopt her a few days before then.) :)

We once had a dog named Chloe. Had her for around 10 (human) years... she was lovely, you would never hear a peep out of her. But she got ill and my mam thought it would be better to put her down instead of keeping her alive and letting her suffer. It was the kinder option

Cross-breed between a jack russel and something else. We also had a cat whose breed was a cross between spawn of satan and the hounds of hell. It used to sit on top of the kitchen cabinets in the dark and growl at me  ;D

Yeah. I think she had cancer of the throat or something. Her breathing started getting really heavy, and her mouth used to ooze this horrible brown stuff every so often. We just got bored of waiting for the cat to go.. ::)
...that was a joke. She had to get put down for being poorly as well.. she was going blind and we're almost certain she was deaf

Cancer in the throat, I believe, was the cause of death for Dusty back in 1993. :\'(

I've also had two rabbits... Topsy and Turvy. Turvy was killed by one of the nieghbourhood cats (we still don't know which one), and Topsy (my favourite) died of flu. My hamster (Minky) died of old age (it was three human years old and died in my mam's hands one night)

Since our dog Dusty died in 1993, my parents have been buying stuffed animals (mostly stuffed dogs) because they missed having a real dog around. We've also received a few. Among them (other than dogs) we have a few stuffed bears and rabbits. Which reminds me, when I was little I had lots of stuffed animals, mostly rabbits.

I have just recieved a confirmation letter, telling me I have been accepted into Sunderland University to do the journalism course I want to do! It is a conditional place, but all that is required is 180 Ucas points (equivalent of one grade C), so i'm basically already in!
Mind you, the course itself is gonna knock me back

think anyone is quite good enough.

I still do, so that's why I'm taking computer courses for certification...in addition to working towards a degree in liberal studies.

You really should give a person credit for going to either a trade school or college. Neither are easy. It takes alot of effort to actually study a subject beyond high school.

I took college courses in high school, then did a couple of years of college, but didn't know what I wanted to do. Ended up in the
Heavy Equipment Apprenticeship program. For some reason people think Vocational studies are for people not smart enough to get
into college. As one who did both I can say without a doubt that both are equally taxing. I am glad to have the benefit of both.
