Momus is probably going to be very far from your tastes.. he defines it as "Analogue Baroque"... about the polar opposite of Rock.
I enjoy some Weezer.. just somewhat disappointed by their other stuff.

I had a great day. I took Paul and Brian to the football field we all used to go. We ran around played catch and I still made a 45 yard field goal :)

I just had one of the best days at work ever! Firstly, I found out that i'm finally gonna be able to get my own back on the colleague who makes my life hell, because she's been telling the customers sh*t about me, so i'm gonna drag HER into a conference on Friday for a change (She usually drags me into them about petty things). Then, at the end of my shift my manageress took me for a spin in her very classy convertable. It was nice to have the breeze through my (very short) hair after a day stuck inside a stuffy shop. Then to finish, she took me to macdonalds and bought me a coke and a smarties mcflurry, then phoned Babs (who was back in the shop working) and asked her if she wanted anything, and then bought her a sandwich too! The look on the other colleague's face when I re-appeared in the shop, mcflurry in hand, and gave babs her sarnie was priceless! So, all in all i've had a great day! :)

The best part.. I know there are at least 3 tracks on each CD I'll enjoy... and I got them for a fraction of their prices.. Stars Forever is a two-disc set.. should go for $18... I got it for SIX. So even if I don't enjoy the rest of the CD {which is unlikely}, I saved a TON of money, so it's no major loss.

Amazon.. you ever used Amazon? It lists the prices for the ones they ordered that are new and unopened... then you can buy for cheaper from new-and-used sellers.. I got lucky.. the ones I bought were never opened.. they were surplus from when a small music store that sells mostly indie and smaller artists closed down or something.. very cheap, but still in very good shape.

She's overcome alot in the past years. She had some rough teenage years, but has come through everything better than we ever thought. So, we're all very proud of her. :)

Ah, that's got to feel good for you, too.. Rough years, but everything's come together now.... Much has been overcome. I'd feel great, myself.

Well...today we found out that the dog we rescued last week has been adopted!! (Last Friday, I had mentioned on the "What Did or Are You Going To Do" thread that my mom and I were on our way to the hair salon to get our hair cut when we saw a dog running around loose in our neighborhood.) No one claimed the dog after the 5 days was up (Wednesday), so the dog (a female chihuahua) went up for adoption. So now someone owns that dog, and will hopefully take really good care of her! :)

I made my cousin believe that they didn't have glass windows in england until just a few years ago.. which made me laugh no end.
In the 1690s, during the reign of William III and Mary II there was another national financial crisis. There was growing inflation due to the various conflicts in Ireland and mainland Europe. So in 1696 a new property tax, the window tax, was introduced. This was less intrusive than the hearth tax because the windows could be counted from the outside. Nonetheless, it was unpopular because of what it seemed to tax. Its opponents called it a tax on fresh air, light and health.
The tax was at first a flat rate of 2 shillings, or 8 shillings on houses with more than ten windows. In fact people managed to dodge payment by bricking in windows, camouflaging them or even building dummy windows so that inspectors were completely confused. Some blocked in windows and then unblocked them as soon as the collector had gone. Over the years people became so clever at avoiding the tax that revenue from it fell and the law had to be tightened in 1747. It was then that the Government of the day began juggling with bands of payments according to how many windows a house had. This raised more revenue; however there was more avoidance and so the rates were doubled in 1784. The tax continued until 1851.

In the case of my son, it is buying a computer for his mouse...
...his laptop said goodbye to him the other day.
