The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Excellent movie.  My wife and I both cried and cheered.  It is the best movie that Disney has ever produced.  It is the best movie of the year, and it is very faithful to CS Lewis' original story.  I can't wait for the rest to be made!

Earlier this evening, hubby and I went to see Jarhead at the cheap cinema.  It was good, if you like military/war movies.

Just now finished watching the tv movie Red Green's Duct Tape Forever.  Kinda funny, but then I like the characters already anyways.

I saw King Kong last night, and we all absolutely hated it, it was horrible.

We saw Chronicles of Narnia last weekend, and we loved it, I would love to go see it again, but King Kong is a total waste of money...my son actually got sick at the movies, cause of some of the scenes...because of it making you dizzy feeling, me and my mom covered our heads, it was giving her a bad headache.

I love the 70's King Kong.....and this one looks so totally fake...he is scary looking...he's got gnarly looking teeth and scars, and is mean...and the 70's version...he was adorable when he was dunking her in the waterfall.

This new one...was so boring at the beginning...and Jack Black is a horrible actor...I can't stand him anyway...but he said the same stupid lines over and over, and I wanted him to be trampled in the first 1/2 hour.

Naomi Watts and Adrain Brody had 0 chemistry....she didn't want him,  she wanted the monkey...she chased the monkey around more than the monkey chased her, infact she pretty much threw herself at King Kong...they were a good couple of bananaheads together.  We had hoped that she jumped off the Empire State Building at the end too.

Death Wish II - 1982

Kinda campy 70's like fluff, but fun to watch Charles Bronson do a bit of Rambo-esque revenge. Too bad the leading lady died only 8 years after this movie.

We went and saw Saw 2 today.  *retches uncontrollably while typing this* ummm...excuse me..

Not crazy about these types of movies anyways, but it was the only thing starting soon after we got to the theater and hubster wanted to see it.  We had seen Saw 1, only I saw most of it through my fingers over my eyes.  Saw 2 wasn't even in the same caliber.  Of course they set it up so that there will be a Saw 3.    :-\\

I also for some odd reason failed to mention I saw "King Kong" on Friday. Surviving on just nachos and water through the 3+hour film, I managed to get through it and it seemed to go by a little quicker than I thought. I know that Peter Jackson films run great lenghs (all Lord of the Rings were within the 2 1/2 or 3+ hour range), so I wasn't expecting anything much shorter. I remember watching the last LOTR about 2 years ago on the big screen and actually hoping it would end. I still don't know why it was considered the best of the three, but that's another story. King Kong managed to not stall too long on certain areas, and the parts where you thought it would drag - it jumped off just in time before you began to get tired of the scene. So, all in all, King Kong would get about an 8 from me on a scale from 1-10.

If I hadn't seen it in the theatre, I probably would have petered out after just the first hour. My boyfriend and I tend to go to the movies that we know will not be quite as good on the small screen because of the visuals. So, we go to the big budget visually satisfying ones and keep the romantic comedies and so on for video, lol "The Aviator" seemed like it was going to be a visually stunning film, and I believe it held up to that, but it could've been better.

I have seen "Brokeback Mountain"  twice in the past week. I would go see it again. It's a beautifully , complex array of emotions set against an awe inspiring backdrop of wilderness. The last time I've tangibly felt the pain of the characters in a movie was in  "Bridges of Madison County".  This movie is the sad, desolate love story of  unmentionable desire battling with societal duty. It's not just the 'gay cowboy' movie.  I think it should be a nominee for Best Picture and Heath Ledger should be nominated for Best Actor. As well Jake Gyllenhaal should also be nominated .
And on the video screen, I attempted to  watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Call me old fashioned but I loved Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka , he's the one and only. As much as I love Johnny Depp.. I have to say I didn't like this version much. I'll have to watch it again and try to be more objective . But that was my first impression..

I watched "Saw" last night. I fell asleep and missed the vital 20 minutes before the big finish.
Now I have to watch it again.  It was ok, badly produced, looked cheap, Cary Elwes is still pretty, but he's unbelieveable when he's screaming (remember when he was all thin and slightly cross-eyed?)
the gore is not so realistic.
but still a pretty good story.

I noticed michelle williams in that comedy "dick" back in the late 90s, that it was just an affable cheesy comedy but her acting in it was really first rate. And she really rocked in "me without you", where she had a chance to work some chops. definitely not just a pretty face, like Kirsten dunst is. (she seems nice, but she sorta just keeps doing that same girl-next-door schtick.)

Apparently she wrote a screenplay too. I'll check out sunset blvd., and yes, the other woman was great too although I didn't know who she was. (her accent might have actually been more credible than MW's but I suspect she was actually a native...)

Michelle Williams does a heartbreaking  role in "Brokeback Mountain" . She should be nominated for an oscar.
I have Dick, Sunset Strip, Me Without You. All great movies.
Sorry to get off on a tangent here.

Although there are slight moments of chick-flickery in Deer Hunter (the wedding), I do get sentimental about the movie, as it was shot in and around Pittsburgh (a city near and dear to my heart), it's *not exactly* what I was in the mood for right now.  :D

In my  opinion, Walk The Line and Constant Gardener should've also been nominated for Best Picture this year. (Even though my vote goes to "Brokeback Mountain" )

The Mask of Zorro, Lethal Weapon and Flight Plan

Flight Plan was okay.
Zorro and Weapon were much more fun to watch.

it was just SO lame. Parts where they were totally trying to be funny....I (and half of the theater) was just sitting there with a blank stare. It was just really corny.

Saw parts of "The Jerk" (1979) starring Steve Martin last night, it was corny and hilarious!  I'd seen it when it first came out, but I was 10 so alot of it didn't make alot of sense like it does now to me.

Saw the beginning and ending of "Forbidden Planet" (1956) starring a very young Leslie Nielsen.  It was a very interesting early sci-fi movie.  I was tired though and I fell asleep watching it.

All the others were great too.I love Lou Diamond Phillipps..AKA..Chavez...I also have to agree with BookMistriss...The jerk is an all time classic...When I used to put my daughter to bed I always sang the " Im picking out a thermos for you"...she thought I was totally wierd..she gets it now...and when we go to the store I start picking up stuff.." I need this..and this..and thats all I need"..she cracks up...."mom you are so out there!..)..LOL ;D

I've taken time off the last couple weeks to see movies, (as the Oscars are rapidly approaching.)
I have seen several  great movies .
1. Capote (Philip Seymour Hoffman should win Best Actor)
2. Walk The Line (great movie..)
3. Good Night and Good Luck ( good movie, I learned something from it. )
4. Hustle & Flow ( should win best song ... "You  Know It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" )
5. The Constant Gardener (Rachel Weisz should win best supporting actress but should really be in the best actress category.. also this movie should have been in Best Picture category.)
6. North Country (Charlize should win best actress)
7. Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of The Were Rabbit (should win best animated, though I still haven't watched Tim Burton's Corpse Bride.. so my vote is still out on this one)
Next in line on my watch/see list are "Pride and Predjudice", "Cinderella Man" , "Syriana" , "Transamerica", "Munich", "Memoirs Of A Geisha", and "Mrs Henderson Presents"
wish me luck.

P.S. I also watched "Million Dollar Baby" last year's  big winner in nearly every category... I was disappointed with the ending. She was killed with an injection of Adrenalin (that would do 3 men in ), and just went peacefully to sleep?? I think not..I'd like to speak to the Medical Technical Advisor on this one...

I watched "Scream" the other night.
It's actually very good and Skeet Ulrich brings us back to the day where the psychos were really sexy- it's hard not to like him in that.

This is such a fun movie.  Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha -

The last movie I saw was yesterday, The Phantom Of the Paradise
