I saw it a few months back and like it. Once you knew what was going on, it all fell into shape.

captain america. pretty fun, although the action scenes were cartoonish in the usual way. i'm bummed that the overreliance on CGI has rendered hollywood incapable of doing a decent action scene. they need to sit down and watch the car chase in "bullitt" or the truck-commandeering scene from "raiders of the lost ark" again, or anything from the original "die-hard," to remind themselves what makes a decent action scene. a good action scene has rhythm, sometimes it runs a little hot, sometimes it runs a little cold, and a little bit of realism should be a concern. when people survive 150-foot falls, you lose all sense of suspense. but whatever, maybe i'm just an old and that's what the kids want nowadays.
that said, i loved how captain america was guileless and wholesome, not a dark antihero, which is getting kinda cliched in the comic book movies nowadays. and that role was a natural for tommy lee jones, he got a ton of chances to fire off some primo one-liners.

I just watched 'The Mechanic' with Jason Statham ... that's right, he came over and we watched it together :D
Seriously though, I found it disappointing as I was expecting non stop action. I never saw the Charles Bronson original, and after seeing this, I may never lol

that would be odd, watching the mechanic WITH jason statham. I'd be afraid if i said anything critical about it, he'd hit me upside the head, stuff me in his trunk and leave me in the desert or something.

One season Amazing Race did a family addition: they introduced all the families, the last family they introduced were named the Blacks. The intro started with The Black Family from so&so city are a father mother and two siblings...... they were of course black.....so the whole race (until they were eliminated) the narrator would say things like "And the Black Family is doing this...." or "the Black family is in the lead" or Phil K. would say "Here comes the Black family" it was really funny to watch! ;D

Good film, a bit sentimental towards the end and fluffy, but all around a great picture featuring Katherine Hepburn, Ginger Rogers and Lucille Ball.
RKO Pictures COULD DO NO WRONG! You know a studio is awesome when I love every film they made.

I've heard some weird things about Antichrist. I haven't watched it but felt it was just an excuse to watch two people mutilate each other. It reminds me of another film I haven't watched but read about called 'Cutting Moments'.

i think there were more things going on than that, but there was certainly plenty of it. it's sorta split in the middle, and the first half is kinda like a haunted house movie a little bit like the omen or the exorcist, the second half it gets really violent, but i have to be honest with you, the violence in the second half mostly kinda just seemed silly to me. there was some hyper-arty thing the director was going after with constellations and acorns and witch hunts and stuff but i couldn't really follow it. and the violence was kinda almost unintentionally, like cross-your-legs-and-giggle funny. and i'm pretty sure that's not what the director was after.
that said, i mostly liked it. like 6 out of 10. mostly because of the first half, which i thought was really challenging and great. i haven't heard of "cutting moments" but i'll add it to my queue. that was very much the vibe of antichrist, that they're going after each other's naughty bits. :o

Yes, my mate was telling me about it. I think a fox was involved somewhere in the mix too. So the film was two halves that didn't quite gel together?

Yes, very similar themes of family dysfunction and resulting sadism of genitals. I think it is a 30 minute low budget short. I hope the message behind it is better than the gore itself.

He probably was given help by Steven Spielberg, for one of Spielberg's film traits is family life, especially the children of the family. It has been recorded that Spielberg was on set on most days of the filming.

Yeah I know what you mean. It was obvious where it was going. The film was wrong from the beginning what normal dude strikes up a friendship with an 8 yr old girl. But I don't think shes innocent either. Ie not their victim I think she was aware of it all as well and agreed to go with it. I mean she had to sign the release form or they couldnt have used any of the footage in the last 20 minutes. ;)
Here's the clue they knew before they knew. Remember when they "pulled the mail out of the mailbox" it was stamped return to sender not hand written. So they brought it with them.

And....that dude was super hairy 8-P
But his face was nice to look at. ;D
The part where he was photo shopping her photo with his photo was a bit ridiculous.
I think what happened was this, it probably started out innocently but they figured out the something was off but instead of just cutting off communication they decided to make a mockumentary and act like they're finding out all the information as the filming is happening.

I think you're absolutely right. I'm just saying what's her name wasn't exactly their pawn. She totally couldve stopped filming by refusing to be an active participant.

Well...Marley actually talked in this one and it was the typical cute puppy who gets into trouble meets evil-scary-mean person and has to solve a dilemma.
It had nothing to do with the other movie except that Marley's owner was out-of-town and his nephew had to dog sit. Really it could have been about any puppy.

I love it. I don't think of it as sad but freeing. Also, I have a theory that the events of the film never actually unfold....that it's a figment of Thelma's overactive imagination. From the moment they take the pic there's a flash frame. in the instant the pic is taken Thelma's anticipation goes into overdrive and dreams up all the excitement and drama that could happen to them. I say that because the film ends on a white frame....like a flash....and one of the last images you see is the Polaroid pic they took.
Not many people buy my reading of the film but I like it and I got an A on the paper I wrote in a film analysis class. 8)
I still have not seen that film yet.

It's all good...it's been a few yrs since you've mentioned it and I'm sure someone just read for the first time. Sadly, they may not know him by name but hey they'll imdb him and realize how cool that is!

What was REALLY cool was when I got to sit on his lap. :D ;D ;D ;D ;D Someone was giving us a ride and Jim was sitting in the passenger seat and either there wasn't a back seat or the back seat was full and I couldn't get into it, so I sat on Jim's lap. ;D ;D ;D ;D
I got a pic of him somewhere around here-but not with me. :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'(

My viewing of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix " was interrupted, I saw up to the kiss under the mistletoe and missed the remainder of the film.

I'll watch the rest over the Christmas holiday.

I am watching the most bizarre movie ever, Rubber, about a tire that unexplically rolls thru the desert making things explode ( bottles, cans, animals). I'm ot sure how long I'll watch it for.

Beats the crapfest I just watched... Terror Trap....it's the usual let's lure lost folk to our abandoned deserted motel and kill them but somehow it seemed to lack continuity and um the plot "twists" made zero sense.
I expect more from a film that has Michael Madsen, Jeff Fahey and David James Elliott ::)

Oh I also watched The Experiment with Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker....it wasn't too bad. It was basically a film about a version of the old guards vs prisoners experiment. they never reference the original experiment they just sort of play the film as if it's never happened before.... it wasn't too bad.
