"Soul Plane"
Aside from the bad acting & bad jokes, it's cheap knockoff of "Air Plane" with Snoop Dogg & Tom Arnold. Enough said. :P

Well, did you like it?
I just watched it and thought it was "blah". I normally like Clint Eastwood's work, but this one was severely disappointing, IMO; slow, drawn-out, depressing through and through and doesn't even have an ending that would have somehow redeemed the movie for me. :P

I can't help but think putting Leslie Nielsen in helped it. Plus, add in Charlie Sheen, from Hot Shots, and I believe the movie being done by the Airplane/Hot Shots crew also helped. :)

I saw "The Day After Tomorrow" last week with my wife.
The special effects were excellent and the acting was good but I couldn't suspend disbelief for long enough to get over the mental picture of a group of film producers sitting around saying "OK, next disaster movie? Well, we've done fire, earthquakes, meteorites, alien invasion and plague so how about.....global climate change!?".

My favorite scene was when Leslie Neilsen opened the door when they were fighting the demon girl and said "Just wanted to tell you both good luck. We are all counting on you". I had just watched Airplane the night before so it really made me laugh.

I was disappointed as well. I found it pretty depressing. And forgive me if I missed something but what did the phone calls from Kevin Bacon's wife have to do with the plot? Am I missing some sort of hidden symbolism?

I haven't seen the movie, but read the book. (great book, BTW) I have no clue if there was symbolism to her calls or if it was to show what was going on in his life....personality aspects?

In Mystic River, the phone calls with Kevin Bacon's (Sean's) wife go along with the movies themes of lose and redemption....they are used to parrellel the other characters.
SPOILERS
When his wife is gone, both Tim Robbins and Sean Penn have their wives, and for some time, their family (well, until Sean Penns daughter gets killed)...at the end, Kevin Bacon has his wife back, and his family back, including a new daughter that he never met..Marcia Gay Harding has experienced lose as her husband has been killed ..Sean Penn has lost a daughter (which Kevin Bacons daughter parrelles) and some he had some trauma around the unneeded death of Tim Robbins...that cause him to lose something emotionally....it is incredably well used in the movie....I just wish that what Sean Penn says at the end mak it clearer....the last scene though kind of sums it all up
anyway, i just say Spidar man 2

I have to agree. I just saw Spiderman this afternoon and really enjoyed it. Could be because there was more action and FX.
Last movie I saw on television was Salems Lot (remake). For a television movie I thought it was quite good.

It's bad enough they are trying to remake Assualt on Precinct 13!

It is many, many years since I saw the original. From what I can recall the original was more of a sci-fi thriller. This latest is more a comedy. I really wasn't that fussed about seeing it but a friend's son won some tickets and gave them to us. I enjoyed it far more that I thought I would. I thought Glenn Close and Bette Middler were good and Christopher Walken was great just acting his usual spooky self. Matthew Broderick and Nicole Kidman were just okay.
I've got to agree with you about the tripe they're churning out of Hollywood lately. Doesn't anybody have any original ideas anymore??!! I've been seeing a few foreign films in the past year or two as everything else is boring!! The next movie I do want to see is "The Singing Detective" with Robert Downey Jnr. It's getting okay reviews here. I saw the English made mini-series on TV about 10 years ago and it was just wonderful. Michael Gambon had the lead in that. I'll let you know what I think of it in due course.

I also watched Cold Mountain last night too. It was ok, the book was much, much better I have to say. But then again, I think that for a lot of movies I have seen lately, like Mystic River. I thought the book was great but the movie was just ok.
Ooh, if anyone gets the chance, watch The Girl Next Door! I didn't think that was going to be very good but I watched a couple nights ago and laughed my a$$ off!!!!!

Anyway... the last movie I saw was "Out To Sea" on AMC, yesterday. (Incidentally, I saw that one in the movie theater on this date 7 years ago (7/20/97).) That was so funny!!! I watched it on TV while my parents went out to see "Shrek 2."

It is cheap isn't it. The price for the regular theaters at the Malls here are $7.50--$5.00, for matinee shows. These theaters are only open on weekends and show the ones that have already left the other theaters So if you are not desperate to see the movie immediately, it is good to wait and watch them there. I live on a tropical island in the Pacific.

Day After Tomorrow. Saw it over the weekend at the bargain theaters here. Only $2.50 if you wait until the movie has run its course at the regular movie theaters. They are old and fairly run down but they keep it clean. For $2.50 you can't complain.ÂÂÂ
I love the cheap movies. We have a theater close by that is only $1 and if you go on Wednesday night it is only .50 cents. Of course, refreshments require a second mortgage to purchase. ;)
Last movie I saw was Independence day...it is almost over now. I love that movie, it gives me my daily Jeff Goldblum fix.

"Fast break" Gabe Kaplan's having a ball! - His dream team's got a preacher, a jailbird, a pool shark, a muscleman. And the best guy on the team is a girl.
David Greene is a New York basketball enthusiast, who wants to coach. He is then offered the coaching job at a small Nevada college. He brings along some players, who are a bit odd but good. Like Swish who unknown to the rest of the team is a girl. Preacher, who's being sought by some nefarious characters. And D.C., who's a fugitive. And along with some of the students at the college, he turns them into a contender. Well, the very last movie I saw was Romy and Michelles High School Reunion, again. I LOVE that movie!! It still makes me laugh, just because it has some really great lines in it! I think I know the entire movie by heart!
Thats all I have to say about that. ;) :D

This Documentary set me over the edge. I used to be a Bush supporter, not anymore. If you live in the states, this is a film. It is not about opinion, but about facts. I didn't know which part was worse. I don't want to get started on a political debate....But I have to change parties at this point. This movie will change your views if you are unsure of this years Presidential Election.
I also saw Terminal with Tom Hanks, it was sweet.
I Robot with Will Smith, I liked that one. A must see if only for the shower scene.

I saw Garfield. I knew I was going to be dissapointed. Bill Murray held the film together but, apart from a couple of choice one-liners, the script was lacking. Two points . . .
1. If Garfield was computer generated, why wasn't Odie and the other animals computer generated as well? It looked so weak. The dancing Odie thing was crap as well (also looked quite uncomfortable for the dog).
2. Why did they make out that John was dense and stupid? The comic strip didn't depict him that way at all.
I think we can thank Hollywood for another formula film. ::)

Was it any good? It's on my list of movies I want to see.
It has its flaws, but it's definitly worth watching.. It's a very good movie. My problem with it is that near the end it gets very mellodramatic, and I question why it was done like that by usually better filmmaker Ridley Scott. Also, Nicholas Cage's character gets on my nerves after a little while.
Either way though, it's definitly worth watching. It's a very good movie. Plus, I didnt see the end coming.

I agree......the first was MUCH better. I just watched Medicine Man again. It had been a few years (probably when it first came out on DVD/cable) and I had forgotten a lot of the dialouge. Although Lorraine Bracco was guilty of some "over acting" IMHO, it was still a good flick with a great plot line.

I just had a two day movie-fest since Sunday/Monday TV is so lame. I saw:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - great wrap-around storyline. Jim Carrey can be quite good in dramatic roles. I think anybody that has felt heartbreak can identify with this one.
Coffee and Cigarettes - a black & white Indie film, very good as long as you're okay with non-storylines. It's a collage of short encounters involving sitting around drinking coffee/tea and sharing a smoke. My favorite scenes were with Iggy Pop/Tom Waits, Alfred Molina/Steve Coogan and Bill Rice/Taylor Mead. The scenes with Cate Blanchett (in a dual role) and Meg White/Jack White (of the White Stripes) were pretty good, too. The very end of the last scenario made me very sad :\'( ( I won't ruin it for those who might see it).
Live Forever - a documentary about the 90s Britpop scene...namely Pulp, Blur, Oasis, etc. The Blur/Oasis rivalry is addressed directly from both sides. I found it pretty interesting. Personally, I've always preferred Blur. ;)
The First 20 Million Is Always The Hardest- an Indie comedy about a group of guys trying to create a $99 computer. Jake Busey was hilarious! I loved him in The Frighteners and PCU, too.
Mayor of Sunset Strip - a documentary about KROQ's Rodney Bingenheimer. Full of interviews with music icons (David Bowie, Ray Manzarek, etc.). I felt very sad for Rodney throughout this film. I found it a very melancoly look at how somebody can put his whole life into something and have so little in the end.
Josie and the Pussycats - I've seen this one before, but it always makes me laugh. I've had a mad crush on Alan Cumming for the longest time. I don't normally like Tara Reid, but she is perfect in this role. "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!" ;D

Jim Carrey used to be good in comedy too...great movie
Ah Coffee and Cigarettes...not a movie for people that enjoy high budget movies in which things happen(and this isnt an insult)..nothing happens in C&C, and thats what makes it so perfect...nothing happens, just a bunch of people sit around drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes.....
I saw this with 4 of my friends....3 of them hated it..only me and another friend liked it, and I didnt even think it was all spetacular
gotta admit though, the Alfred Molina one was brilliant

Last night I was watching the beginning of "Home Alone 2: Lost In New York" on ABC Family. I've seen the movie in its entirety at least half a dozen times. The reason I only saw the first part (up until Kevin decides to sleep in the attic) is that I was primarily watching the election results on the major networks.
