This is what you do.  I did this once and I've never been solicited by ANY religious group ever again. 


When someone comes to the door....no matter what religion they represent and they ask if you've found Jesus/God, you say "Why yes I have....he's naked  and tied up in the basement.  Do you have a pen knife?  He has to take a leak." 

They will run like hell.  Now, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, come to do the door naked and say to come back later, you're in the middle of sinning.  They will run like hell.

Trust me, you wouldn't survive ;D  I know quite a few people who have moved here after living in Cali all their lives and you'd think they'd gone to Antarctica or something the way they go on.  ;D ;D

You wanna talk about "going on"?  It gets cold down here in north Georgia in the winter....not bitter cold, but in the 30s for the whole day.  Hardly what one would consider "winter" temps, especially considering that any snowfall we do get, is gone by about 9 or 10 in the morning when the sun comes up.  It's not like we'll ever have 5 inches of snow on the ground from sun up to sun down.

That said, my last year at GSU, I'd wait in the turnaround for the campus shuttle like everyone else, and one morning it was about 51 degrees.  Hardly cold.  Chilly, nippy, chisly......not cold.  I saw people standing out there in fur-lined parkas, ski hats, scarves, gloves.....like we were in the middle of the Antarctic or some such nonsense.  I was expecting a dogsled team to take us to the campus, not a bus.  These are the same people who will spend 2 hours warming up their car in the morning if it dips below 60. 

So.....that's what I hate.  People who overreact to the weather.  I think all Southerners should be forced to spend one week in the midwest in December so they know what a REAL winter feels and looks like.  2 inches of snow fall on the ground and the governor is all but declaring a disaster area in the affected counties.  People forget how to drive, schools close, businesses close....it's freakin' hilarious.  I know that snow in the South is rare, but it happens at least twice a year.  What we get more than snow is ice.  THAT'S when the real fun happens because the DOTs down here don't have road salt to put on the ice to help melt it.  They put sand and sawdust on it, which only makes it more slick, thus contributing to accidents.

I had the same experience when I went to school in Texas.  One of my good friends was from Milwaukee and another from Boston so we would all sit and laugh together.  Here we were walking around in sweaters and everyone else is practically wearing full ski gear ;D ;D

A girl I know wanted to name her daughter Chloe, but her other kid's names start with "K" so she decided to change the spelling.

I've never understood wanting all your children to have the same initial.  It just makes it difficult deciding who the mail is for.

Someone my mom works with named their kids Mara, Mary, Marie and May.  If you're not paying extra-close attention, you could confuse the first 3 names if they were said to you.

I think giving your kids matching names, whether it's all the same initials or if they are the gender inverses of each other (Angelo/Angela, Patrick/Patricia) is too cutesy.
