Subject: Wesley Cook Death Penalty Dropped
Written By: LyricBoy on 12/07/11 at 7:24 pm
Pennsylvania prosecutors announced today that they will not pursue a new sentencing hearing for Wesley Cook, who was convicted thirty years ago for murdering a Philadelphia policeman and whose conviction has been upheld on numerous occasions up to and including the SCOTUS.

Maureen Faulkner, widow of the slain policeman, supported the decision. But then she added, "I am heartened by the thought that he will finally be taken from the protected cloister that he has been living in all these years and begin living among his own kind – the thugs and common criminals that infest our prisons".
Reminds me of that poignant moment from The Shawshank Redemption where Warden Norton tells Andy Dufresne, "I'll take you out of that one-bunk Hilton and cast you down with the Sodomites!."

Or am I being "obtuse"?
Actually Warden Norton would have had Cook bumped off before SCOTUS could sort it out!
