Seems that Casey, Schumer, Landrieu, DeFazio, Manchin amongst others are not impressed and will not go along with the proposed "all or nothing" approach.

Those guys are a-holes. If the House gets to go "ala carte" with the jobs bill, they'll siphon the tax cuts out of it and dump the rest down the hopper. And that's exactly what's going to happen. As Kevin Philips said, "The Democrats never miss a chance to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory."

There are enough Democrat defectors in the Senate to kill any bill that might get there too. Although with the Repubs having an overwhelming amjority in the House, this bill is going nowhere.

It seems that when the Dems had a sitting President, a majority in the House, and a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, it exercised its power with all the expertise of a monkey making love to a football. Now that one of the chambers is Republican controlled they want to cry...

It is always simpler to exercise power on behalf of those already in power.

well, with the capitulator-in-chief in the white house, i'm not sure exactly what you expected the dems to get done. he was folding to the republicans before the fight even got started, over and over again. now we're stuck with gridlock and sheesh's just gonna get worse and worse.

Precisely my point. When the President was gridlock-proof he and the Dems managed to get gridlock anyway. And now that they squandered that opportunity, they want to blame it all on the other party.

While I agree that Obama caved on some stuff, his legislative record was quite impressive. Rachel Maddow, some time ago, used about five minutes of her show to scroll the measures passed by the house quickly on screen. The say no senate repubs thwarted much of that effort
