Subject: Massachusetts Legislature Votes to Limit Collective Bargaing Rights
Written By: LyricBoy on 04/27/11 at 5:54 pm
I just read where the Mass. house of representatives (which is dominated by a Democratic Party supermajority) just overwhelmingly voted to limit the collective bargaining rights of public union workers re: health care.
Oh the outrage!
Any Mass residents got any detailed scoop on this?

The kernel of the issue is the cost of health care premiums for municipal employees. They got the cops and the firefighters pissed off. Never a good idea. Those in favor, such as the Chamber of Commerce, say it will help control costs to towns and cities thus avoiding layoffs and service cuts. The unions say it erodes the rights of workers bargain for a fair deal. The usual crap on both sides.
I like Governor Patrick's take on it, Hey, it's not Wisconsin!
