Nope they can't-which is the problem. You can take them to the Vital Statistics place, show them the certificate and they will say that it was forged and put there just recently. It doesn't matter. They will believe what they want to believe no matter what proof you show them to the contrary.

I still don't understand the crazy on this issue... he could have been born on Mars and he'd still be eligible because his mother is 100% born in America.  No one debates his mother's birth certificate right?  It's amazing a modern media outlet would even bother airing these nutjobs at this point still.

Article II of the Constitution dictates the President shall be born in the United States or a U.S. citizen at the time of his adoption. 

Going back to Goldwater, they decided a U.S. territory was acceptable too as Arizona was not yet a state in 1907. 

It is disputable whether John Wayne, Uh, John McCain was born in a hospital outside the Panama Canal Zone and thus ineligible to be President.  The point is moot now. 

The so-called "Birthers" are going to stamp and scream and carry on as long as Obama is President.  It's their obsession and they're sticking to it.  They won't get anywhere with impeachment or anything because they have no legal standing.  They Birthers do contribute to a sentiment of illegitimacy against Obama, rational or not.  Just keep it in the air: This guy don't belong where he is!
