Bernie Kerik sends guys to "rough up" a couple of guys, has ties to a mob controlled construction company(aren't they all?), worked as a mercenary soldier, employs an illegal(I'm more concerned about how much he paid the nanny and how he treated her) has 2 simultaneous extra marital affairs, has his wedding paid for by an outside party, receives a $2000 Tiffany policemans badge, receives a large payout from a company that he has interest in that does big business with the government, and it seems there is more to come.  Yet none of this comes out before he is named as the next possible Homeland Security Chief.  Who was running the screening process here, and how safe do you feel if they can't get this one right? ???

Apparently Bush liked Kerik because Kerik made liberals and Democrats mad.  Partisan aggravation is a top priority among the Bushies.  Bush liked Kerik's image as a bad boy ("bad boy" is great so long as it's right-wing bad boy), no matter that he was unqualified for the job.
If a liberal with the same naughty background was recommended by a Democratic mayor and chosen by Bill Clinton for a federal post, the Republicans would be picking the guy's innards out with a teaspoon while right-wing-boosting press gleefully reported every minute of it!
