Subject: Possible new job for John Kerry
Written By: Mushroom on 11/03/04 at 2:44 am
Personally, I think that I know of the perfect job for John Kerry to hold:
I think that President Bush should appoint him as US Ambassador to Iraq.
And no, I am not being mean or facetious. During the 1940 election, FDR was battling Wendel Wilkie, and the main point that Wilkie used against FDR was Lend Lease support to England.
After the election was over, Roosevelt appointed Wilkie to carry a personal message to Churchill. During that visit, it both mended a lot of fences between both parties (which paid off during WWII), and showed why Lend-Lease was so important. Maybe throwing a similar bone to Kerry will do the same thing.
We can only hope.

Yes, welcome back Mush, we have missed you.
It certainly would be a nice gesture, but don't hold your breath. I doubt that Bush's handlers would allow it, or that Kerry would accept. As Danoot said, Kerry is still a senator with, I think, 4 more years to serve. And times now are different than in FDR's days. The divide was less pronounced.
