Kerry Goes Hunting for Conservative Votes

BOARDMAN, Ohio (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said he bagged a goose on his swing-state hunting trip Thursday, but his real target was the voters who may harbor doubts about him.

Kerry returned after a two-hour hunting trip wearing a camouflage jacket and carrying a 12-gauge shotgun, but someone else carried the bird he said he shot.

"I'm too lazy," Kerry joked.

--Where is PETA, seriously?  These people used to hassle Bush Sr. all the time when he went hunting, now they are silent.  I went and posted this story and picture at PETA's website, but they took it down!  Some of the people didn't like it and said they would vote for Ralph Nader if this was true (and it is.)

But I can't help wondering if Kerry is a fraud (on this hunting trip.)  Just like with Clinton in 1992 no one saw Kerry kill the goose (with Clinton it was a duck,) even with the all the reporters who were invited.  Kerry himself didn't carry the goose (probably afraid) just like Clinton.  I smell a rat...

PETA is a terrorist organisation with links to convicted murderers, extortionists and all kinds of thugs, as well as having members who have exhorted people to bomb restaurants and processing plants with people inside. One of their current campaigns is to boycott Australian wool producers. Wool is this country's second biggest agricultural export. These maniacs don't care how many people will suffer at the hands of their extremism. If there's a war against terror going on now as so often claimed, PETA should be shut down and its leaders imprisoned.

Shooting a goose is one thing, Kerry shooting a goose in Ohio last Tuesday morning was terribly contrived.  Ohio is a state that's very much in play and both candidates believe the must win Ohio.  Thus, Kerry needs to shore up his vote among men--especially rural macho men--so he goes hunting.
One must understand, however, that every single thing presidential candidates say and do in October is contrived with the utmost deliberate care.  The stakes are too high to leave anything to chance.
If one guy's supporters can badmouth the other guy's publicity stunt enough to make it work against him, that's ideal.  Republicans are much better at badmouthing than Democrats.

I saw this on the news the other day and the tagline below the film read "Poland, Ohio" which is right next to Boardman. And my aunt and uncle happen to live in Poland, Ohio. And they happen to own a farm in nearby Campbell, which happens to contain a lake they built, which happens to attract a rather large flock of Canadian geese.

Dude, can you imagine what he'd be saying if the roles were reversed?  If Bush was a decorated Vietnam vet, and the Kerry campaign was producing ads with the SBVT?

Here hunting is a different mindset. To go hunting puts you in the the gun advocates, not
posh folk, but bread and butter mid america working people.

I think you are right. I think that the republicans like to put a spin on things so that people will be distracted from the REAL issues.
