the first being 'Poli' meaning 'many' in latin

I recognise the intended humour here, but it really is a stretch. "Poli" is not Latin for "many," "poly" is. Poli is from the Greek "polis" which means city. And while a tick is a blood-sucking insect, a tic is an uncontrollable spasm of muscles, especially in the face.
I know I'm being a smart-ass by pointing this out, but I can't help it. I'm a language-obsessed purist. I annoy people some people because I cannot help but to correct their grammar. It just bugs me the way the youth in America are pulverising the English language.

I believe it was John Adams who said "I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is a disgrace, two are a law firm, and three or more are a congress".
