It was part of BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge feature
Basically what happens is they get different bands in and then they give the listeners a list of 3 songs they would like to hear the guest group perform. One week it was Sugababes doing a cover of Hard-Fi's 'Living For The Weekend', and they also had up-and-coming group The Feeling doing Mylo's 'Dr Pressure' Â ;D

Lately, british bands are performing quite well here in Canada, which is quite rare.
The Dandy Warhols had single success here with "You Were the Last High" and "We Used to Be Friends"
The Darkness also had single success with "Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End)", "I Believe in A Thing Called Love" and "One Way Ticket"

We're having some success with non-USA folks at the moment too.
Just looking at the Hot 100
#2 - "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter (Canada)
#4 - "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt (UK)
#6 - "Unwritten" by Natsha Bedingfield (UK)
#38 - "SOS" by Rihanna (Barbados)
#42 - "Savin' Me" by Nickelback (Canada)
#71 - "Always on Your Side" by Sheryl Crow and Sting (USA/UK)
#84 - "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira featuring Wyclef Jean (Colombia(?)/Haiti)
#85 - "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" by KT Tunstall (UK)
#99 - "Talk" by Coldplay (UK)
Probably more, but those were a few easy ones to pick out
Here's our surrent top 10 singles:
1: Ne*Yo - So Sick (US)
2: Embrace - Nature's Law (UK)
3: Orson - No Tomorrow (US)
4: Pink - Stupid Girls (US)
5: Corrine Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On (UK)
6: Pussycat Dolls ft. Will I Am - Beep (US)
7: Black Eyed Peas - Pump It (US)
8: Chico - It's Chico Time (The very bowels of hell)
9: Kanye West - Touch The Sky (US)
10: Sugababes - Red Dress (UK)
We get a lot of crappy R n B and Rap from the States, but there are a few good US bands having reasonable success lately, Orson and the Strokes to name a couple

I thought I'd just post a link to this weeks Dutch Top 40.
If there's anything you don't know, it's most likely Dutch. You can click on the purple speaker-symbol behind the artists name for a 30 second snippet of the song. How cool is that? 8)

It's not that it's a bad song, but it's very dull for me. I think that's a lot of why it does so well, though. It's very standard, cut-and-dry, plain R&B. Nothing special about the lyrics, the music, the delivery... it's all just there. I don't dislike it, but I think there're other songs more worthy of airplay.

Might be interesting for them to read EVERY post ever (straight thru till this point ) made in this 'longest thread ever'. They might even want to publish all of this (Note, when it becomes a 'best seller' I want my 10% for giving you the idea! ;D ). Still, you could find yourself being sued by your readers for 1) damage caused to their sanity; 2)for being 'ripped off' 'cause what you published is out of date (more important ( ;D) content since added ). 3) 'cause this longest thread wasn't the kind of yarn they were expecting. They were out to knit something, & all they've got is a bunch of knit-wits! (present company included! ;D ).

Indeed. Herb Albert was the man!!! I had that album in the late 60's, I think it was my dad's, my parents seperated and I kept it, but of course I don't have it anymore. The title song, a taste of honey rocks. nice one Andrew, and Albert for the inspiration with his cars album cover.

Alas, no. We sit in the hot, sweaty, smelly school hall for nigh-on two hours and watch the school band (who couldn't play in tune if you paid them to) perform murder classic songs. There are also Psalms read, but the kids who read them out always burst out laughing half-way through, which ruins it. It's a waste of time, seriously

I went to see my daughter in some Easter thing but that was all the kids in her year singing songs like "chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken" and "good morning madam hen"

We do it every year, and every year it's exactly the same. The only good thing about it is that each school year do it at different times, meaning that sometimes our teachers miss lessons because of them (example - today my art lesson was cancelled because our teacher who's a yr 8 form tutor had to attend the liturgy)

I thought I'd just post a link to this weeks Dutch Top 40.
If there's anything you don't know, it's most likely Dutch. You can click on the purple speaker-symbol behind the artists name for a 30 second snippet of the song. How cool is that? 8)
Just wondering... has anybody actually clicked that link? And if so, did you listen to one of the songs? ???
And FYI: the #1, Rafaella, is the winner of Dutch "Idols" competition which has just ended. I only saw the first two episodes and then I lost interest.

Yes, I am a fan of Kane.
For some reason I never realized they are known/popular outside The Netherlands. I still think of them as just some local band with a few good songs and a stroke of luck on the charts - but they're actually quite big.
Like I said - a few good songs (especially in their early days), but they're getting predictable and, to be honest, rather boring.

Sadly, I've not partaken Henk...I can't even stomach our own chart in this day and age...
I'm just thankful that I did manage to live through some pretty good music in my time...

If you hadn't noticed already: the #28 (Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss) is not the original version, but a remix by German band Scooter. I have no idea why that version's in the charts... :-\\ Every time I see the video on tv, it shows the original Bloodhound Gang version.
Furthermore, #16 and 25 have both been used in tv ads.

I can remember when "The Logical Song" (UK #2 hit, June 2002 trivia fans) hit its peak, and I was walking past all these little kids and they all had the ringtones and they were saying things to each other like "Have you heard Scooter's new song? I like learning something new. Back in Roman times, the word "ides" came from a Latin word that meant "to divide", so the Ides of any month was simply the middle of that month. The Ides of March was March 15, but that phrase became much more famous after Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar.
