I got a Doonie Darko DVD at the weekend.  It was given away with the Sunday Times.  It'd better be good.  I only got it because I'd heard of the title.
With the freebie with the papers it will be only the film and no extras. I am awaiting to see the DVD going cheaply in the record stores.

Cricket explained briefly:

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game.

Like what?  I mean, we came in 2nd place last week, and we're hoping to come in 1st this week.  It's a lot of fun, and it's all useless trivia......I just hope we get a seat in the bar area so that we don't have to run around the big screen TV to drop off the answers.

What kind of questions ask?

We play at the local bar by me...they just added DVD video clues.  Very fun.



Ours doesn't have DVD clues.  The guy reads the questions, he plays a song (kinda like a DJ setup) and you have that long to write down your answer and drop it in the bucket.  There are 4 questions per round, and each question is assigned a value between 2-8 points, and you do the assigning.  I wait to assign the points until after the question is asked; that way if I don't know it or aren't sure, I'll only give it 2 points so if we lose, we don't lose that much.  After 2 rounds, a team name is randomly chosen to win free pitcher of beer (last week my team got called, but I don't drink beer and my sister is underage, so we gave it to another table).

We had 112 points last week.......I'm hoping we do better this time.  :)

Some are easier than others; it just depends what kind of useless information you store in your head.  I'm more of a school-based useless knowledge, so history, science, government, even sports......that's what I know.  My sister is more pop culture, so she's better with music, movies, celebrities, things like that.

Nope, no calling anyone for help, no texting anyone, no asking other tables for help.  We always sit in the bar area near the table so we don't get tempted.

Okay, so Trivia Night didn't go like I wanted.  We had 82 pts going into the last bonus question......worth 20 points.  The question was, "What position has the fewest members in the baseball HOF?".  I said catchers.  The answer was third base.  If we had been right, we would have had 102 points.  That would have been enough for 1st place, since the team that did win 1st place, only had 101 points.

When I checked out the stats at the HOF website, there were 14 HOF catchers and 12 HOF third baseman.

Oh, I definitely prefer giving to getting. In the real life sense, if that's what we're talking about. If it's  on the board, eh, about equal. I've always been one who has a little trouble taking praise, but I very much enjoy finding things to praise in others. Not sure just why.

I was just referring to the board and the applaud buttons. nothing deeper than that, too late to try to think to hard. Its fun to get them, almost a popularity thing maybe?
