Well, I sorta did. 4 years ago I moved from the US to Spain with nothing but the clothes on my back. I only recently got back online. I only just heard about the site crash 3 years ago and my old name was gone with the wind. I was Bagpipechick in those days!  I guess I always intended on coming back!

he started a board of his own, but I've been told it's invite only.  not much going on with it lately from what I see. 

Mark was good for starting conversations, it was a shame that he needed to be banned, but his behavior in the PM system wasn't acceptable. I'm not even sure if the people who complained about him are even here still.  I just know I rushed into upgrading the software so I could get the PM report functionality in place sooner.

The thing is that some people can dish it out but not be able to take it back in return. Too many times we see ex-members get bashed in this thread. Granted, it is their choice to not participate, but this only adds fuel to their fire. There are members here who are still friends with those that are no longer with us.

As seen in the past, we ALL sometimes end up posting before we think, then it is too late to go back and change or delete it because it has already been read. That gets held against us. You can type one thing, it blows up, you delete it and the following posts get deleted, but PEOPLE REMEMBER. Just because it is gone doesn't mean that it is forgotten. Same thing goes with thread locking. It gets locked in hopes that people will forget about it and it will find itself archived.... but people remember and are quick to show you exactly where you posted, looking like an arse.

I understand that this is a free forum, and people should be allowed to post as they will, but when you leave here.... do you really want people who you thought were friendly stabbing you in the back and name calling you and saying how annoying you were? Think about it.

I miss Chaka as well. I wonder what she is doing now. She is one of the very few members who enjoyed grunge as much if not more so than I do, and is very knowledgeable about that genre.

I've mixed thoughts about DD. Had he just left I would be quick to jump to his defense when he is 'smeared'. However, that hasn't been the case with him.

Back in April, right before the 'three day server reset', he guest posted again. Most people let him know exactly where we stood, including all three lead moderators.

I wasn't talking trash about him as a member, but as a mod I let him know exactly how I felt.

I know I'm not really helping here by bringing up past issues with a banned member, but I do agree that slamming banned members isn't productive at all, and not exactly 'sporting'. That said, I did bring up a different ban earlier today in another thread to demonstrate that we do take action if we feel it is warranted. That person knew how I felt while she was here, so there was nothing 'two faced' or 'backstabbing' about my post.

Now, if you really want and need to talk trash about banned members, pick those a-hole spammers like "cindylovesmusic". No one cares about them at all.  ;D

Don't know that I'm familiar with those guys. Are you certain they weren't one and the same persons under alternative names? Seems strange 3 people would get their facts wrong, get themselves all in a stew, then get banned. What was the fact debated?

Would I be acccurate in saying that overall, the main beef with Donnie isn't as much the threads he did (even if he probably did go a little overboard with the number of them he did sometimes, lol - which even I kinda told him he should cool it with), but that he returned after leaving quite a few times? If that's the case, I respect the decision for him to be banned and for those to agree with it. In turn, I just hope people respect me for being his friend and all.

The thing is that some people can dish it out but not be able to take it back in return. Too many times we see ex-members get bashed in this thread. No matter how they left the boards, it is unfair to bash them when they cannot defend themselves. Whether banned or not, there is no need for us to show just how ignorant we are, or how much back bone we don't have.

You know, I don't mean to pick on you per se. Jeff, but it is little quips and pokes and prods like this that will eventually turn people off from participating in threads. Granted, it is their choice to not participate, but this only adds fuel to their fire. There are members here who are still friends with those that are no longer with us.

As seen in the past, we ALL sometimes end up posting before we think, then it is too late to go back and change or delete it because it has already been read. That gets held against us. You can type one thing, it blows up, you delete it and the following posts get deleted, but PEOPLE REMEMBER. Just because it is gone doesn't mean that it is forgotten. Same thing goes with thread locking. It gets locked in hopes that people will forget about it and it will find itself archived.... but people remember and are quick to show you exactly where you posted, looking like an arse.

I understand that this is a free forum, and people should be allowed to post as they will, but when you leave here.... do you really want people who you thought were friendly stabbing you in the back and name calling you and saying how annoying you were? Think about it.

Several times it has been pointed out that rehashing the banning of certain members, or members choosing to leave, is not an acceptable topic of conversation. That slamming members that 'you' didn't like was also unacceptable. It has been asked several times for this type of posting to cease and desist. "What must prospective members to the site think when they read some of the crap that exists in here?"

Another thread has been started to take the place of this one - for those who are honestly asking about valid members who have not been around.
Be aware, any post in that thread that starts to slam will be deleted as we are no longer going to tolerate those types of actions.
