Here's  a story I shared on Facebook.  So I went to see 'The Avengers' and there was this old guy in the theatre shouting in excitement at certain scenes.  When the Stan Lee cameo appeared, he pointed at the screen and was like "Oh my god, that's the guy.  That's the guy that created the whole Marvel thing!"

Sort of True, but the link between In-Q-Tel and Facebook is tenuous at best.  The link between In-Q-Tel and GOOG is more clear.  In-Q-Tel had a pretty obvious winner in Keyhole, and GOOG had a pretty obvious winner in buying Keyhole to make Google Earth (AKA the the combined satellite/aerial/ground-level view we can all access through Google Maps) to the masses.

That's not to say that the intelligence community isn't using Google Earth or Facebook.  Of course they are.  But so are we.  Same way we funded our missile development programme and got the spinoff of having been the first nation to land humans on the moon.  Same way we funded research into integrated circuits so that our missiles could have lightweight and compact onboard computers and got the spinoff of personal computers.  Same way DARPA wondered what sort of communications network would survive a nuclear strike, and we got ARPANET, which morphed into the Internet, as a fringe benefit.

Sometimes the conspiracies aren't conspiracies: If a bunch of geeks with a few million bucks in funding can bring something to market 5 years ahead of a government contractor with a billion dollar contract, and you really want the something, and you really want it right fracking now, you throw away the career advancement that goes with being in charge of a 5-year billion dollar pork barrel project that some Senator wants to throw your way, and you throw a few million dollars at a few groups of geeks and see what they can build on their own.

I don't know abt Beaumont but in LA they have a no bag policy. You have to pay 10 cents per bag to get one.
I was in a store in Santa Barbara county (a town called Carpenteria) they don't offer bags at all (you can buy a canvas bag for 99 cents) they have no paper no plastic so you bring a bag, but a bag or carry your shyt out.  I just heard Santa Barbara will be doing it soon too. I hate the green people taking away my shopping bags.  >:(

Now you see why I yearn for the 80s? When I was a kid, mom brought home tons of brown PAPER bags, and I used them to make houses for my Barbies. The only green I had to worry about was fuzz on bad fruit! We have plastic bags now, and no one in any of the stores I frequent have said anything else. I buy grocery, there's a plastic bag. I bought clothes at the mall, there's a plastic bag. I buy clothes at Forever 21, there's a plastic bag large enough to hide a grown man in. I mean, people need big plastic bags for groceries. I've told you this before... living in Santa Barbara (ETA: and working in Law Enforcement) I have had lots of contact with people involved in the case. I had dinner with one of the prosecutors and the victim's advocate who counseled the first boy who came over...the one who didn't sue for $$$.... (ETA: We talked about the case indepth and) I fully believe that MJ was guilty of inappropriate behavior with children  -  for whatever reason you choose to not believe.... it's kinda like all those people who thought OJ was innocent... I don't know why they believe it but that is their right.

Did you seek them out at all? Or did you just hang with THAT group? And back then there were reenactments performed nightly from court documents on E! every night. Did you happen to see that at all? Because I DID. Not only am I a fan, but I am an informed fan. And if the testimony was any sort of meter any one could tell the allegations had been fabricated.

Now the first boy, Jordan Chandler. I don’t know where you were but about a month after Michael’s untimely demise, Jordan’s father, who started the entire mess in 1993, committed suicide with a bullet through his damn head, And shortly after THAT JORDAN CHANDLER CAME FORWARD AND STATED THAT ALL THE ALLEGATIONS HE HAD MADE WERE FALSE AND THAT MICHAEL JACKSON DID NOTHING WRONG.
But I suppose that puts a stick in your craw and turns all your beliefs to ashes.

I and pretty much everyone I know have  hated the guy long before you were born . You are allowed to express your feelings towards any entertainer, but so does everyone else. Sorry you are hurt by this but really you shouldn't be..it's nothing to do with you. I like you, can't stand this particular entertainer. You are two seperate people. Oh my everloving hell.  Are you for freaking real?  We get that you are a fan...we get that you have made it your business to know as much about MJ as humanly possible.  You might know all the public facts but you don't 100% know the trust.  The only ones who did are those that accused him and MJ himself.  Everyone else has an opinion.

Tif I was working the day the verdict came out... one of the deputies keyed their radio and I could hear the cheers... plenty of people think he's innocent but that doesn't make it so... a lot of evidence (stuff that did not show up on the E! thing because it didn't happen in court) was not admissible that doesn't mean it doesn't exist and that doesn't mean things that reported didn't happen... it's okay if you choose to believe otherwise... I know things you will never know... that's why I like the second pic.... he may have been found not guilty but that doesn't make him innocent....

I was just reminded of the dude who's son got killed in a subway stattion (or on a subway train) or something... wasn't he so anti the word subway that people could not even mention getting a sandwich at Subway?  Or was his son killed in a subway restaurant and no one could talk about taking a subway... .either way...

Are you saying Q is lying?  I work in the legal field as well.  It doesn't matter if the case is closed or open, there will always be information that is not public.  I know with my job, if I let loose some of the details I could lose my job and be sued.  I am sure Q is in the same situation.  Not worth it.  I am sure it has nothing to do with "Protecting Tiffeny's sensibilities".

gag order is the wrong term... there are certain aspects of my job that require to maintain the confidence of the information I am privvy too..

I don't care how much you love MJ or how much you wish you could know. . . It's not worth me losing my career to divulge information that was bestowed upon me..... .you wouldn't believe it anyway or just find some way to justify it so he could remain innocent in your eyes...

As a mother I am extremely sickened (or maybe just disturbed) by the fact that you were allowed to watch this....  Yet you claim that you were a protected child!

My father was a carpenter and was outside most days working to earn money, so the TV babysat me--daddy was in the backyard--and I watched news. Why do you think I'm so intelligent?  I read a lot. Daddy got the news paper, I read the newspaper after I finished the comics. And at 9 I was a sponge after Michael, envied the other fans who knew more than me, and educated myself in my free time to be up to snuff with them. And so, I knew some things or learned some things perhaps a bit early, but I couldn't UNlearn it once I learned it. But I always was like that. I just KNEW things. And I LIKED learning things. From an early age I watched all sorts of things and read medical journals with the illustrations in them. But on the same note I was solid A-B student through school and in advanced programs with more awards than I can count.

Hell, I'm the only girl on my block who wants to be a writer. Everyone else wants to twerk. Yeah in some aspects perhaps my eyes opened too soon, but I think I am alright.  :)

See how easy it is for people to make assumptions about what people know and don't know about each other no matter how much online interaction they do with one another???  (I'm thinking specifically about your comments re interactions with a couple of MJ fans making assumptions about you in the FB group or on a MJ fan site or whatever... .just because you think it's out there large and in full living color doesn't mean everyone is aware of it... misconceptions happen when we assume people know something about us even though they have absolutely no clue....)

I know you said you were dropping it (and I'm dropping it too  :)  )  but I wanted to make a quick point here... 


Sami brought up a good point that I wasn't even thinking about... you were young when this whole thing went down...  so your perception could be skewed not by your fandom but by your perceptions at the time... .  The news never broadcasts everything so you were getting the information that was chosen for you to rec'.... and those E reenactments.... those were reenactments of the court proceedings... as I said not all the evidence was allowed in court so you never got exposed to all the information you can't take what was presented in court and say you have all the facts cuz all the facts were not presented...and honestly... I wouldn't use that "I watched every E reenactment" as a rebuttal again.  I mean, honestly no disrespect meant, but I don't think anyone really took those seriously... I remember the talk shows poking great fun at the reenactments  so it seemed not a lot of people took them too seriously....  :-\\

Did you witness this guy blowing his head off? Because I've seen people die before. That is a reality in dialysis. I've seen two people slip away from this earth while taking their treatment. Seen the light leave their eyes, the color leave their faces and the life leave them completely. I got to dialysis three times a week. And I've seen it. One day before I even got there, a man expired in the lobby and I saw the medics loading him away. While it's not the same as someone intentionally offing themselves, I HAVE seen death come to others. Now I'm sorry you saw what you saw, and I'm sorry I saw what I saw, but we can't unsee what has been seen. Now I'm do apologize if I alarmed you, but damn it, I'm a Taurus, I'm naturally dramatic. He dangled a baby over a balcony.  There's no excuse in the world that can make him come out of that looking good.

I've seen some stuff that'll curdle your blood. Chalk around the eyebrows. Matching the eyebrows to a neon colored wig and/or neon ensemble.
