Some of those are decadeology some are annoying.
The problem is people like Belmont (there have been others but Belmont is the most recent) who posts 5 new topics a day....all of them ( okay most of them) are about how people felt about (or felt in) the 90s

This need to relive and analyze every detail of that decade and the 00s is the most annoying advent of the Internet. 

The biggest problem I have (some others will agree) is that there are 100s of threads in the 90s and 00s and many of them are similar in theme.  Instead of starting new threads about the same old thing I wish they would go thru the 90s, 00s & 20 sections and read every post. Then see if the topics been covered. If it has discuss there if it hasn't look at the popularity (or lack of) and maybe don't.

Or, at the very least, take the similar context and make one all encompassing post rather 5 individual ones

there have been some great discussions about important things that have happened but  I refuse to believe anyone can find anything relevant in comparing 1991-93 to 94-96  to 97-99  I mean really...

and I don't know why it matters if someone is a 90s kid or an 00s kid....why do they need others to identify it for them...can't they just be what they want to be?

According to the sites own rules, decadology is merely comparing 2 years or decades that have nothing to do with each other. Other than that, it says you're allowed to analyze as much as you want! :D

But I did take the liberty of filling out one of those butthurt reports on behalf of the anti-decadology people around here...since they get so butthurt when people analyze decades.

If you are trying to make friends and saying "we all can get along" but telling some people that they are bullies and then putting karma to (someone) because of what you perceived as bullying, that is just gonna create more bad blood..started by you.

I wouldn't say the people in question (not naming names) are bullies, I'd just say some of the behavior is a little bit harsh and like ChuckyG said, akin to a witch hunt. That's all. Bullying someone once doesn't make you a bully, it's the continual habit of bullying others. I'm sure even Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King bullied someone at some point in their life. I'm not pointing fingers at you by the way, you're not really one of the mean ones. I like you actually.

I completely agree! That is what I kept asking them yesterday...why were they even CLICKING on that mid-2010s thread (and others like it) if they find that kind of stuff so mundane and boring? There's no rule that says that members have to read every single thread. There are tons of threads and entire subsections I never bother to click on, it takes absolutely no effort to avoid those threads.

What happened to me yesterday was most definitely bullying, any neutral third party could have seen that. Did I take it too far when I filled out the butthurt complaint for them?...lmao, probably, but it really was a joke. And I've seen you (belmont) bullied plenty of times in your own threads, and I'm not afraid to call it what it is.

And again, if you read that sticky thread about decadology that's in every section...it's defined as comparing two or more years or decades that having no bearing on one another. It then goes onto mention that beyond that, you're allowed to analyze as much as you want. Discussing what makes the early, mid, and late part of a decade, as silly and "pointless" as it is, was completely harmless and did NOT fit the definition of decadology. Fudge away! It's not like it raises my insurance rates or anything. But I've noticed the core group here seems to take the whole fudge thing pretty seriously. I think it was Snoz who said the interpretation of fudging is that you're fudging the very person and not their post...so its just a little ironic that no one in that crowd seems to care if you do that.

Dude, for what it's worth, I LMAO at your post even before Al-B stamped it with a "Denied".  I thought it was a well-played riff against our own collective butthurt, and we earned every checkmark on that list.

"You 90s folks" have actually been doing an increasingly-good job at posting topical and relevant threads about pop culture topics of the 90s.  Honestly, I'm not seeing 10 threads a day comparing 198x against 199x, for all 10 possible digits of "x", with an extra thread for whether years ending in "0" count as part of which decade, which was the sort of silliness that have made people touchy about decadeology.

For the record, I'd just like to say I didn't take Jessica's smite bomb personally (I mean the very fact that she did it to a ton of people kind of diffuses any personal sting that could have come with it, though I admit at first I didn't realize she had done it to more than just me until I saw the list on the bottom of the Index). However, there seems to be so many people here who do take the fudge thing here seriously, so I was just pointing out the irony that she gets away with that. But you all clearly know her well and explained it, so I take your word that it's okay. No harm done. Just wanted to clear that up.

I actually think the whole fudge thing is kind of dumb. I mean it's cool and a nice gesture when someone gives you positive karma, but what does smiting someone really achieve? The only people who would really deserve it would be trolls who would likely revel in the idea of getting as many smites as possible, so it hardly serves as a warning mechanism. Then the rest of the time people might get it as a result of misunderstandings or petty fights which can only lead to hurt feelings and damaged egos.

But all this talk about people possibly leaving this place...that shouldn't be the case. Not for this. I don't want to feel like I'm responsible for opening a can of worms that's gonna cause people to lose touch with friends they've had on here for years.
