I have a player and about 30 records, from 1945 to 1990. :)

I have a player and about 500 records, most of which are 12" singles and K-Tel (and similar) compilations

Nah, I still have a turntable, but sold all my records a few years back (including all my Beatle records and some were on APPLE as well)

Actually, the only record I still have is a 1973 or 1974 K-TEL album that's still on the turntable coz I threw away the jacket.

I've still got several thousand of the things that have followed me over the years, but I rarely, if ever, play them (thanks to the miracles of mp3 and the like!)

There will come a time when I'll flog the lot (I'm just waiting for the day when people have more money than sense once again!  ;))

Subject: Re: Do you still play records?

I do, but only for those I don't have on CD. I don't like the sound as much unless it's an album produced in the early '70s or earlier: They tended to sound too thin and the hiss/warmth of the record fills it out.

  Yeah...four bucks.  Screw that...

Rasputin has a modest selection of vinyl, new and old, and new-old.  Before last Christmas I picked-up a reissued KISS Alive and REM Document...

When my grandpa died in 2007, I got some of his records (you know, the ones that interested me...) There are tons of jazz records in his collection, so most of the jazz I listen to is on vinyl. I don't mind it, because the warmth of vinyl works better on jazz recordings than rock. Although I wish I could put these things on my Zune...

McCartney was deeply dissatisfied with Spector's treatment of "The Long and Winding Road" and unsuccessfully attempted to halt release of Spector's version of the song. McCartney publicly announced the break-up on 10 April 1970, a week before releasing his first solo album, McCartney.

The late Allen Klein

Subject: Re: Do you still play records?

Written By: Howard on 07/12/09 at 6:44 am

McCartney continued to distrust Klein, though admitting to him at one point "If you are screwing us, I don't see how." Following their informal agreement to split in late 1969, he eventually sued the other three Beatles for what he called "a divorce," and the Beatles as a business unit came to an end. McCartney has stated he chose to legally dissolve the Beatles rather than allow Klein to milk and diminish their artistic legacy.

I bought a GE Wildcat Record Player at the flea market a couple months ago. It needed a needle so I got one off ebay and darned if that record player doesn't play excellent!  I got out my record case and started playing all my old 45s, it was a hoot! It doesn't have the adapter thingy so I had to buy some of those yellow spacers. I love it. Just another one of my kitschy flea market finds.  I still have all of my Beatles albums and solo albums. I'd never part with those. I have a nice little collection of Beatles memorabilia also.

Yeah i have 2 RCAs. one from the 50s or early 60s. Works with tubes and has alligator casing. but it needs a lot of work. (the part of the spindle for 33 and 16rpm speed is broken off and needs a new needle ect.)  And another one from the 70s, a white one. and that one needs a new needle.  :(
And they both have (had) that 16rpm speed. I've never seen a 16rpm record before.

I have no courage to sell any of them neither.

When I got married long long ago, I ordered a heap of LP's to start in our after-wedding house the way we wanted to.

Those I had listened to in the radio and I loved, now there were spinning around in the living room.

Nowadays they sleep in a furniture, and I don't dare ever thinking in sell them.
Yes they are just memories lingering on ::)

It's also good for a laugh playing other records at different speeds.

I don't even use the cassette deck and rarely use the CD burner underneath it anymore.  Mission control is fed into my PC and I record mixes directly to MP3 and if I burn them on to CD I run the MP3 file through Adobe Audition so I can index the tracks.

If I ever do mobile work I'm just lugging the mixer/CD console.  Too much trouble to lug two turntables and records everywhere. :P

I play records constantly as I love analogue :)

I have many 78s and 1 80rpm edison record which I listen to on my Crosley player and it sounds goregous!! (Its not that loud as the needle is too small to get the whole groove but it sounds good still)

I tried to recently but I don’t think we have the right needle for our system.
