Touch wood, I've not had any 'real' illness for ages...

...just the odd cold here and there - and I eventually learned the lesson that, once I get a cold I stay at home!

The last REALLY bad one i had was Pnumonia for the 3rd time.

I've had em all but never get cold's. Literally.. if i'm ill.. i'm at death's door ;D Thankfully i only get seriously ill maybe once every couple of years.

Just to defend my Gender somewhat here. Since i was 13 years old I've had..

Pnumonia Twice, Bronchitis, Glandular Fever and a kind of Flu that was bad enough for the Doctor to send me to Intensive Care.. ::)

Like i say, i don't get colds.. and in fact, i had most of these things between the age of 13 and 15 but when i'm ill.. i'm ILL!

My old man is a wuss about it. He once broke his thumb and managed to milk it for 3 weeks ;D

I have colds/allergies non stop.. it's annoying.

But I've never had a sickness worse than the flu

It doesn't matter when women are sick, they still have to mamage the household, take care of the kids, cook, clean etc

But when hubby gets sick, he stays in bed and expects me to cater to him, bring him a blanket, some orange juice, his medicine etc.

Ha ha, he wants that stuff he gets it himself because I refuse to cater to him.

the kids on the other hand, I will cater to, when they are sick.

I had a bad cold about two months ago. Ã‚Â It lasted about two weeks total, but for 5 days straight I was sneezing so much that I could barely keep my eyes open. Ã‚Â I literally could not go three minutes without having to wipe or blow my nose. Ã‚Â It was really annoying. >:(

The last time I was sick was the Tampa Bay/Oakland Super Bowl (I forget when it was, does anybody know?). I threw up across the kitchen (I had some REALLY good distance, it was actually pretty impressive) right as they kicked off. I felt so bad, because my parents had to take me to the hospital (I was throwing up blood), and they missed the Super Bowl.

I don't know - somehow I'm just never seriously ill.Last time I was sick enough to stay at home was over 4 years ago (bronchitis - I had to stay home for two and a half weeks). Before that, I can't remember. I'm not the kind to stay home when I have a cold, and I never have had a flu.

I think the last time I was extremely sick was---meh, I can't remember how long ago. I woke up in the middle of the night with REALLY bad stomach pains. I threw up about 30 times (no exaggeration). My mom made a bed for me on the bathroom floor, because, for some reason, it was more comfortable then my own bed.

And about 3 months ago, I threw up a couple of times and passed out because of carbon monoxide, but I guess that doesn't really count. *shrugs*

Last summer in Mass., because of my terrible living conditions. I spent half of the summer living in the damp, cold, unfurnished basement of a beautiful house in Cape Cod. It was so bad down there that i lost half of my clothes and shoes to MOLD. I caught a respiratory infection twice. I'm also asthmatic, so that made things worse. As soon as I got over my first bout with it i got sick again because I was still down in the basement. I had to beg my "landlord" to let me sleep in her livingroom so i could get better. I missed two weeks of work. I should've went back to New York. >:(

I had a case of walking pneumonia in May. I still had to work and had absolutely no sypmathy for the people that took it off because they had a cough. Wimps.

I've had the worst cold of my life this week. :(

I only got to go to my first two days of classes in college; I missed Wed-Fri. And because I'm so drained from barely eating the last 5 days, I'll be missing Monday's classes too.

I have filled up three big Busch Stadium commerative cups from the Ballpark with ice water and am just sitting here. I don't want to go to bed 'cus that'll be the worst thing for me. If i go to bed i'll go to sleep, snore and wake up with a godawful throat.

I had strep throat last week. Nasty fever and headache that finally went away after three days and a cough that still lingers on. I hate it. I start coughing at the worst moments, like when the baby barely falls asleep or I'm trying to make small talk with a customer. Stupid body. ::)

The last time I was sick was last August. I started out with a UTI and since the meds I was on had no effect on me, it escalated into a kidney infection.

I spent a week in complete agony before finally breaking down and going to the hospital. I spent an entire day there...got sent home with Lortabs and antibiotics, then spent the next week in a drug induced haze. :D 8)

The last thing I had was also a UTI. It was painful and I did get a mild fever (about 100 degrees), but luckily I caught it quick enough before it got out of control. That was probably about 2 months ago.

The last really bad thing I had was a bout of kidney stones....the pain was unbearable....I had to go to the hospital and they had to keep shooting me up with morphine....that felt good! :D

OH HELL YEAH! They stuck some Morphine patches on me after i had surgery on my side so that if i rolled over during the night.. i wouldn't bring down the house so to speak ;D

They had to cut me open about 6 inches and pull a load of sheeshe out and then sew it back up. Hurt like hell but the Morphine pretty much zonks you out.

Like I said, the toilet was too far off, but I just managed to reach the sink in the adjacent room. You know, the tiny little ones that are barely big enough for you to wash your hands in after you've had your pee or what. Imagine that being flooded with puke... :P
Needless to say the d*amn thing got clogged.

It nearly made me sick all over again.

Anyway, I went home after this event. I don't know how they cleaned up afterwards, but I've never heard anybody talk about it... :-[

This is pretty gross...but I remember one time, I was about 13 or so...I was laying in bed sleeping, and at the time I had one of those waterbeds with the headboard consisting of shelves and a mirror in the middle....well, I had the flu real bad...and all of a sudden, I woke up and felt like I had to puke, and it happened so quickly....I puked all over the bed...and the worst or funniest thing about it...was, I saw myself doing it in the mirror on my bed!!! :D ;D

I *HATE* being sick(vomiting), I will force myself not to vomit if I possibly can, so consequently I am very, very rarely sick.The last time was a couple of years ago now !

Last time I remember being sick was a year or so ago and it was gross. I had a really badly upset stomach such that I couldn't decide whether to sit on the toilet or throw up into it! I caught it from one of the children but decided to go one better than them.

Last time I was sick....yesterday. I had a nasty sinus headache for most of the day that didn't go away until 9 P.M. my time. The day before yesterday, I was just completely getting rid of a cold that I'd had since last Thursday evening.

Ughh, I had something just like that back in February. It was like I was possessed. It happened over the weekend (luckily) and I had loads of homework assigned. I must of thrown up about 15 times within two days. I couldn't hold down anything. My fever wouldn't go down. Yet, I managed to recover and still go to work and school (with my homework done) all the following Monday. Sometimes you never know quite what your limits are until they've been tested. :)

The last time I was sick was August of 2005, and it was really bad like you and Sis are describing. Because I was so sick at my stomache I barely ate and I got really weak, so then I had to get my strength back as well. I ended up missing a week and a half of school at the beginningof the semester. Its actually part of why I didn't do so hot my first semester at college. Infact, when I got sick, I had only gone to school for 2 days. :D

I am touching wood in the hopes that i don't get sick. Both my kids have been ill. James is on some anti-biotics at the moment and I've got to decide tonight whether the swelling in the gland in his neck has gone down. If it hasn't he's going to the docs tomorrow for a blood test.

The general report is that the Flu Jabs do not work anyway.
my wife and daughter get them, I did a couple of times, but I have not got jabbed in the last 4 years and I'm not getting any sicker than if I got a shot

Actually this was a sinus infection, I get them twice a year, when the seasons change from winter to spring and from fall to winter...it's like clockwork, in the spring I've got better accuracy than the groundhog!!! ;D

...and like I said, it wasn't official...and ditching school for any reason counted as an unexcused absences, and I wanted to keep my record clean. So I was grateful to not get sick very much during my HS years.

It's very painful. It's not a normal pain either, it's real nerve pain. I lost part of my sight in my left eye because of nerve damage. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

It's caused by the virus that produces chicken pox. If you have the pox then you may get shingles, because the virus hides out in the nervous system. That's why stress can cause it.

that's too bad :-completely over my recent cold on Tuesday. By the time I went to bed that night, I was finally feeling 100% again.

I had that bad cold/cough since New Year's Eve! I was coughing up a storm. I probably got it from people at church. Over the weekends I stayed in bed. I didn't get up unless I had to go to the bathroom or eat lunch and dinner. I've practically drowned myself in Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup and Lipton Honey Lemon Tea. I also went through many Ricola cough drops for days. But now I feel 100% better thanks to my prescription to Azithromycin (antibiotics), which I had to take one tablet a day for three days, and Tusso-C cough medicine, which has power over NyQuil and Robitussin. At first, I thought that I had some kind of respiratory infection from the way I coughed the last time since I tend to have a weak and sensitive immune system. But it turned out that I had serious chest cold. I also hate it when I had to rub Vicks on my neck because it's sticky, greasy, and messy.

Today, in the afternoon. I had sinus pain that just would not go away. I took an Aleve, tried to rest, use various techniques to get rid of the pain...it finally disappeared entirely after I got up and watched the Dodgers beat the Yankees.

What did you eat?

I think it was the stuffed grape leaves (dolmas) from a restaurant we'd never been to before. They just didn't taste right, and I tried to order something else, but the waitress/owner refused to take my order and said "Well, you've got plenty there."
My husband had half of one, and I had to eat something, so I just ate them (there was about 6 of them.) I was sick, sick, sick the whole next day.

I got sick the friday "Get Out" came out because I remember I went to feeling bad in the theatre after some bad taco bell. I stayed sick for TWO DAMN WEEKS. >:( I haven't touched Taco Bell since. I'm getting Mexican food next month for my birthday, but at a reputable, sit-down place own and run by actual Mexicans. (I'm gonna eat so much guacamole...)

I had something that felt like a stomach bug a little more than a week ago. Actually it might have been more like heartburn, and I hadn't felt like eating very much for a couple days... but after I took a Tums (this was last Monday), I felt much better.

I had my results back from a recent hospital visit. Here is what I am sick with:
Primary parathyroidism
Sarcoidosis with generalised lymphadenopathy.
h pylori positive gastritis.
Hypertension.
Hypothyroidism.
Low bone density.
Lymphopenia.

When was I last sick? I still am! Flippin' 'eck!

You sound like I was the other week when I was suffering with flu, it took a long time for my throat to get better, I took to drinking honey and lemon, which helped me a great deal.

Update... I took some medicine last night before going to bed, which seems to have helped. And then this morning I sucked on a coughdrop, which also helped. Some more resting will be necessary for me today.

In the next few days I will be having the annual flu jab. As with previous years, it served me well, but last year I did not have the jab, being away from home, I keep getting flu.

Oh yes, what we know as a flu shot is called a "jab" there. I have to be completely well before I can have mine.

I walked into my doctor yesterday on another matter, asked about booking in for a 'flu jab', and I was told by the receptionist, wait for a moment, she checked with the nurse, and I had the jab in five minutes of asking. But it seemed the 'flu jab' knocked me out for the day, I felt lethargic and very tired, and I was not up to being online as in my usual manner. I'm slightly better today.

More than 20 years ago I was sick with a flu bug that made me sick to my stomach. I was knocked out on the couch just waiting for this bug to pass, and yes I did throw up but only once, and on the living room rug. 8-P 8-P 8-P 8-P

I think I am currently under the weather in one way or another. Last week, my dad had a sinus infection (which began on the evening of his birthday); then over the weekend my mom caught a cold from him and is currently battling it; yesterday I may have inadvertently caught it from her because I've been sneezing and blowing my nose. Still, I don't think I feel as bad as I did in late September/early October of last year.

And I can honestly say that I have improved greatly in the last 24 hours. When I awoke this morning, I felt confident enough to go to work. The worst of my illness is over. Let's just hope that I don't get any relapse.

Last couple days, my stomach seemed to be feeling jumbled, possibly from eating too much acidic food over the previous few days. Yesterday (Friday) I woke up at 4am with what felt like heartburn, so I took a Tums and that sorta helped. Still, I felt jumbly...and at lunchtime I couldn't eat all my lunch. But now I seem to be doing much better. :)

This afternoon, mildly. I felt light-headed in a way, with a bit of sinus pain coming on...so my mom suspected that I might be dehydrated and/or have low blood pressure. She was right. We have a device here at home to take our blood pressure, and so I used it, and sure enough it had low numbers. So I ate a snack and drank some water, and I began feeling better again. :)

Despite the flu shot I got it at least twice last season. That’s the last time I was really sick. It makes me feel queasy and like I’ve had the life sucked out of me. I’ve never once had respiratory problems from the flu, or had bronchitis or anything like that. Just over a year ago I had West Nile and it felt exactly like a summer flu plus a sore neck. Then 2 years ago I had norovirus for 7 days, lots of people we knew had the exact same thing at the time. And a stomach bug a couple months before that.

But before that I never had anything for a good 5 years and even then it was rare. It all changed 2 years ago when I spent 18 days in the hospital. I think it killed my immune system.

Other than that I have strings of several days at a time when my guts feel like trash and I feel better if I don’t eat until they settle down. I never get hungry or lightheaded. It’s just normal for me. Usually a couple times a month at least.

In 2016 I had a bad case of food poisoning from eating mussels. I threw up until I went to sleep on the couch. :P :P :P I thought that I had ruined our planned vacation in Newfoundland but I hadn't because it was over in a day. :P :P :P I haven't eaten any mussels since then.
