Subject: 1980's commericials for trade (or perhaps sale)
Written By: Tony J Case on 10/22/04 at 2:44 am

Greetings -

I have spent quite a bit of time digging through my old VHS tapes, and compiling the commercials found there onto a DVD. I thought I would offer them here as trade bait. First, a bit about the discs -

They are indeed DVD-Rs, and I've had a pretty good sucess rate for playback on the several DVD players I own - but your milage may vary. The tapes were recordrded off the air from 20 years ago, on several VCRs. As such, some commercials are more quite than others.  I've done what I can to restore them and sweeten the audio, but you can only do so much. That being said, the commercials within are all pretty good quality. There are dropouts from time to time - but for the most part they're very watchable.

What I'm looking for:
More commercials I dont have. On DVD would be the prefered method, but I could live with VHS copies (recorded at fast, of course). Beyond that, I might be willing to sell - MIGHT. If you cant trade. . . well, we'll see if we cant work something out.

Anyway, on to the discs. . ..

Hi,

My uncle was the voice for the cookie crook for cookie crisp cereal in the 1980's. He died in 1992 and therefore that is why the dog is only in the commercials now. To have a copy of an old commercial would mean the world to me!! Please let me know if you are willing to work out a deal. Thank you soooo much, Christina Cimino

Hi.

I was IN a hidden valley ranch commercial and perhaps some of your other commercials. I have no copies... I'm wondering what that commercial might be, or if you have ford or other national spots available?

I'm 34 now but, I've always wondered if it would be possible to find copies of the commercials I was in back in the day...

please email : stacie@anastasiaart.com if you happen to still have copies of these commercials... on dvd?

Thanks!~

Hey folks - sorry for my absence, I've had a nasty computer meltdown, and am now just getting back into the swing of things. I've you've tried to contact me and havent heard anything, try again - your mail probably got lost in the shuffle. (The up side is that I believe that all my trades went out on schedual - so nobody is getting stiffed.)

Also - I'm working on a new disc, perhaps two - depending on how much stuff I can pull from the tapes. I'll post an update when I figure things out.

Hi Tony,

Best collection I have come across yet.  Working on a project for my company's 20th anniversary.  Really desperate for commercials from 1985.  How much would you charge for the set?  I really have nothing to offer in the way of a trade, I wish I did I love old commercials!!!

Thanks!!

Hi Tony

I am interested in trading with you for your 80' s commercials. Weren't you looking for the He Man & She Ra xmas special? I have that on vhs tape, along with the gi joe movie "arise serpentor arise". I also have a couple other obscure 80's movies you might be interested in, including "the legend of sleepy hollow" starring jeff goldblum & Kirstie alley (circa 1984?), Godzilla 1985, It came upon the midnight clear (an xmas movie starring mickey rooney from 1983 or 1984), and a few others. All were recorded back in the 80's before i had cable, so the picture quality is not as good as we're used to now but they are all very watchable. And most of these movies still have all or most of the commercial breaks included, so there are some more vintage 80's commercials you might not already have. If you are interested in making a trade, let me know.  post a reply here    or    email me  :D

Ok, on to the list of questions.

I was IN a hidden valley ranch commercial and perhaps some of your other commercials. I have no copies... I'm wondering what that commercial might be, or if you have ford or other national spots available?

Well, what you see is pretty much what I've got. Volume 8 is all video game and home computer ads - the only thing I dont have listed at the moment. And like I said, those arent done yet.

hi there do u send to the uk?

i have alot of tv stuff on dvd i could trade

I could, I guess - but these discs are NTSC and most likely wouldnt work on a PAL player. Also, I'm not sure what the cost for shipping them over there would be - probably considerably more expensive than what it costs to send domesticly.

I would like to find an old Godfathers Pizza commercial.  If you have one,  Please respond with contact info.

Well, I've got a couple - what exactly are you looking for?

If you are interested in making a trade, let me know.  post a reply here    or    email me  :D

Actually, the He-Man/She-Ra xmas special I'd be very intrested in. Not so much the GI Joe - I picked up the Rhino DVD set a little bit ago. But yeah, I'd love to get my hands on some Power of Grayskull!

TO TONY CASE. HOW MUCH FOR YOUR 5 DVD SET. I COULD PAY BY PAYPAL TONIGHT

The sets are 10 dollars a piece, shipping included. The down side is - I'm not to fond of Paypal. I've been burned by them before and - well, fool me once, shame on you, etc, etc, etc. . . . .

There - I think that's everyone.

Hello,

These DVDs are excellent piece of history. Really nice. How much you ask for it?
I am serious buyer, no joke.
Are these NTSC? I am from Europe, but NTSC will do just fine...

Anyway, on to the discs. . ..

Yes, they are NTSC - however I'll make this disclaimer right up front: while I've sucessfuly tested these on many DVD players, I've not tried them on none-R1 units. I wouldnt expect trouble, but these are uncharted waters my friend. Sail them at your own peril.

The only other problem - I'm not sure how much shipping would cost. The few times I've had to mail stuff to Belfast, it ran about 20 dollars (and one set to Canada ran me 50 once), so while I usualy cover domestic shipping - I might need you to pick up the dime on this one. Let me check prices when I'm at the post office over the weekend and we'll proceed from there.

That said - I'm asking 10 dollars a disc.

I have a very extensive dvd collection, no commercials, but many cult films, out of print titles, seasons of shows, and titles that have not been and will not be released.  I really would like to add your commercials to my collection, anything you're looking for imparticular that I may have?  Otherwise how can I pay you?  My email is janglesjones@msn.com.

What am I looking for?

* Dragon's Lair
* Ghost Busters (the live action 1970's show, not the cartoon)
* The Mr T cartoon
* Saturday Supercade
* Jason of Star Command/Space Academy
* Ark II
* Hulk Hogan's Rock and Wrestling
* Captain N: Game Master
* Pole Position
* Gilligan's Planet

Or I'm willing to entertain offers of other shows from the 80's. If that doesnt work for you, the discs are 10 dollars a piece.

Check or money order works just fine (or cash, if youre feeling bold). I'll PM you with my specifics and we'll go from there.

I was the kid in the George Plimpton/Intellevision commercial, and would love to know how to get a hold of that commercial. My father Joe direda was also in many 80's commercial's, one in particular, was for yellow pages and he played an umpire who was trying to get his glasses fixed. Let me know how to proceed.

I am very interested in a few of these disks...

I believe I may have an episode of Hulk Hogans Rock N Wrestling and an Episode of Q-Bert if you are interested. Its not much, but I would gladly pay the 10 bucks a disk otherwise.
Email me at kaphij13@hotmail.com and I will contact you.

GOOD NEWS!

The big stumbling block to my DVD's has always been the shipping costs and the price of the actual media. I have a brand of DVDs that I like that are reliable, but theyre not cheap. However, thanks to standing in line on Black Friday for two hours, I was able to get a whole bunch of blanks for a pretty good price.

So, if youre unable to trade and just want to buy - the whole bloomin' set: 50 bucks shipped! Call it a Christmas sale (or until I run out of DVDs).

Now if only I could figure out how to get the shipping cheaper. . . .

Hi Tony.

This looks like a wonderful set of discs.  I would like to get these.  I can pay cash or trade or a combo of both.  I am an avid Dragon's Lair fan.  I also have a huge archive of Starcade.  My favorite animation is Dragon's Lair 2 and its my favorite game; I have a modded upright with all 3 games (incl space ace) and also have the Dragon's Lair 2 laserdisc in both English and Spanish.  Please contact me at alex @ obliq.net (I can also trade Records or CDs if you are into the music at http://obliq.net too) to arrange something good for you.
Thanks for making this piece of history available.

davealex

What am I looking for?

* Dragon's Lair
* Ghost Busters (the live action 1970's show, not the cartoon)
* The Mr T cartoon
* Saturday Supercade
* Jason of Star Command/Space Academy
* Ark II
* Hulk Hogan's Rock and Wrestling
* Captain N: Game Master
* Pole Position
* Gilligan's Planet

Or I'm willing to entertain offers of other shows from the 80's. If that doesnt work for you, the discs are 10 dollars a piece.

I almost thought I wouldn't have anything to trade, and then I remembered that I do have all 13 episodes of Automan on CD-R disc (PAL format unfortunately but it works on all the players I've tried)

If that doesn't tip the kettle I can fire a check off to you :)  Are we talking $50, $60 for the lot of ten? (christmas promotion ultra cool btw! :) )

I can't find a way to email you in this forum, so feel free to mail me back at jesset at g mail dot c o m (die spammers die hehe  ;D )

Hey out there!  I was in a McDonald's commercial during the Superman premiere on ABC back in 1982.  I was the kid who said "See this apple stuff?  That's why I like it."  while pointing to my hot apple pie.  Anyways....

Willing to buy, I don't have any to trade but this one is worth $$$ to whoever can find it and copy it to DVD-R (preferably).

Hey guys -

Sorry I've been away so long, I was hit by a car 3 or so weeks ago and then I started a new job as soon as I was back on my feet. Long story short, my life has been crazy since about Christmas. Anyway, I sent e-mails to any and all folks as of late, so YGM!

Oh - a very late christmas present to you all: STREAMING DOWNLOADS!. Here is a small sampling of my vast collection, but enough to send you back to the 80's. I've got He-Man, GI Joe, some old C-64 commercials, some real classics. Just hit the "More By This User" on the right for the remainder of them.

DIsclaimer: keep in mind these are way compressed and look like crap compared to the DVD versions. In this instance, what you see is NOT what you get.

Those are just bits and pieces that I can remember. If so, and it's good quality, i'd buy the DVD in a heartbeat! Please let me know!

Doesnt ring a bell off the top of my head. The one whatchaymacallit commercial I can clearly recall was the two baseball player kids doing the Abbot/Costello "whatchay eatin'?" "Whatchaymacallit" routine. No jingle that I remember.

There are two little girls sitting in a living room watching tv and eating out of their pails. I am also looking for commercial for kb toys where there is a little girl swinging and all of a sudden she disappears. it was for missing children, then a rice krispies commercial where the monster slides down the hole into his den, there is a little girl with a pink sweat shirt and purple pants. I am also looking for a kodak commercial of a little girl painting her wagon. If anyone has any of these, please email me at doppey21@aol.com thanks ....Kelly

None of those sound familier - I dont recall seeing anything like that in my collection. However, if a couple of trades go through like i hope, I'll have a whole new batch or two to go through. I'll keep my eye out for them.

Well, the two discs are 10 dollars a piece, and at a rough guess the shipping will be at least 10 dollars (based on how much it's cost me in the past to return a package to Sendit.com). So we're looking at roughly 30 dollars for the whole package. Let me check with the post office and double check the shipping.

While I've got some of the ads from other parts of the country (mostly LA and southern Cali), the bulk of my stuff comes from Seattle and the Pacific Northwest - about as far from Boston as you can get. So no, that one's not in the collection.

Anyway, on to the discs. . ..

please email me at ant9808@yahoo.com to purchase these, i understand that they are $50. thanks
