Subject: MTV's first hours on the air from Aug. 1, 1981

I am looking for MTV's first hours on the air from August 1, 1981. I am looking for the original broadcast. I don't care about the quality of the tape, or how long the tape runs. Whether it's the first hour, the first two hours, and so on, I'll take it. I would be willing to buy it or trade for it. I have some vintage 80s MTV, as well as other things, to trade with. E-mail me at OzzyBonSixx@aol.com if you have this and we can work out a deal. Even if the tape doesn't start at the very beginning of the launch, I don't care. I've searched high and low for this tape, and at this point I'll take whatever I can get. If anyone has this, or knows where I can get it, please let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

The first hour might not be as hard to find as you think, if you're OK with a rebroadcast, that is.  I distinctly remember seeing MTV's first hour rebroadcast at 12:01 AM on August 1, 1991, in celebration of their tenth anniversary.  The second or third video they played was by an incredibly obsucre band called PhD, a song called "Little Suzy's on the Up."  There was a Rod Stewart video in there, also.  And I believe Mark Goodman was the very first VJ to introduce the channel.  He was "very excited," he said.

In 1981, before I had MTV hooked up to my stereo, I taped some of their stuff with a microphone off the speaker on the TV, one of the things I taped was one of those commercial breaks they had, it was music, some of it rather good, interspersed with video of something in the background, the piece of music I am looking for was played in conjunction with the sun shooting it's solar flares, don't know the name of the piece or who did it but I'd like a copy of it because it was good to listen to...........Will someone help?, if you have it in .WAV format, could you send it to my Email?...wcja720@aol.com...or if you have it on tape, perhaps we could arrange something, email me...PLEASE.

ANY LUCK FINDING?  I DON'T HAVE MUCH IN THE WAY OF TRADEABLES, BUT IF YOU'VE FOUND THE TAPES, I'D GLADLY PAY FOR COPIES.  BEEN CASUALLY LOOKING FOR EARLY MTV FOOTAGE FOR A WHILE NOW.  SILENT.MAN@VERIZON.NET
