Always make absolutely sure to find out about and do your research of the person, site or people from which you purchase items on the web.
These are some of the things to keep in mind:
* personal information and e-mail distribution all over the web
*spam
* theft
* scams
* fraud
In reference to payments for purchases, try to rely on a reputable service such as "Pay-Pal".
Take the necessary steps to always, always, always Protect Yourself. :)

The same type of vigilance needs to be applied to offers to join groups or any solicitation or offer involving person to person or person to people contact.
Do your homework and check out these people, backrounds and legitimacy. Make sure to do so without giving out any of your personal or private information. There are many ways to research. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

For safer shopping online, make sure the business with whom you are dealing is registered and in good standing with the Better Business Bureau.

Checking into things with more than one reputable source definitely can't hurt.
