::) Hi everyone, I'm Holly and I'm doing my GCSE Textiles on 70s, 80s, and 90s fashions. Basically I could do with some info or just your opinions on 80s fashions (but feel free to mention the other decades too! No, really.) I'd be seriously grateful for anything any of you can tell me (by sending to my email address). Thanks, Holly H.
ps. just in case for some reason you can't find my email address, it's hollyhhi@hotmail.com

Good luck with your GCSE, my son did his last year, and said it was hard work!
A question of fashion. In the 60s we had Mary Quant make up and girls either looked like pandas with lots of dark eye shadow or went natural. SKirts were short and boots were long. Colours were bright or strong contrasts. My favourite coat was a vynal (vinyl?) rain coat that was black and white. Also had lots of bright coloured patterns.
In the 70s were oxford bags, which were very wide flares and baggies which were baggy. ALso try watching films like Grease for 50s fashion and Saturday Night Fever for 70s fashions.. Terrible thoe they are, if you are allowed, the Austin Powers films are a pretty good pointer to 60s fashion.
I hope this is of help, and good luck!

I was in Jr. high and High School in the 80's and I remember that in early 80's, neon was all the rage. Big jumbo dangling earrings in all shapes and colors, pin striped Chic jeans, mesh tops and jelly bracelets (courtesy of Madonna) and primary color sweater vests with leggings and oversized angular belts. Paisley was big. Basically, watch the movie "Valley Girl" and you'll get the idea. Oh and ANYTHING from Benneton or The Limited (Outback Red and Forenza)
Towards the mid-80's when hair bands became popular, the bigger the hair, the better. Spiral perms with tons of hairdpray, torn jeans (acid washed of course), denim jackets with leather fringe...basically, the Bon Jovi Look. Frosted pastel lipsticks, tons of eye makeup and Poison (Christian Dior) perfume.
I'm from the south and these were the fashions at my surburban Atlanta school. Email me if you want more info!
