I'm looking for an old friend and his name is 2XL. I use to have one as a kid. Now that I have kids, I'd like for them to experience the way I learned. If you have any information as to how I can buy one along with the tapes, I would really appreciate it.

A fan asked if anyone had tapes for their player and I answered I have 2 at $4.00 each(this includes mailing). Thay wrote back but they never gave a definite yes..I have 2 cassette tapes..interested?

  I have a 2X-L, i can't get mine to come on, except for that
it's in good shape..I have two tapes. It was my sons when he
was about 7 or 8.  He got it for Christmas, after all the
rush-rush of exchanging gifts, I noticed he was in his room,
sitting beside the bed playing with 2XL, he said,"Mommy,
this is my friend."  I knew then it was the perfect toy for a
little boy.  can anyone tell me how I might get it fixed?

I am not sure of the workings of the toy..I thought it was nbasically like a cassette recorder(only the tapes are recorded in two channels that give question and answers)..try an electronic repair shop or if the company is still in business, they are Tiger Toys (in Texas).
Unless the batteries are the problem..maybe you are using a higher power(like extra alkalai) like some electronics-like pagers only want you to use a certain power battery so it doesn't ruin it or leak battery juice into the workings-
if all else fails try shaking it a little with good batteries???
