Few languages are ever consistent, and I'm afraid Dutch is no exception to the rule. The fact that the other verbs are conjugated using "zijn" (i.e. to be) seems to be rather coincidental. There are numerous Dutch verbs that are conjugated using "hebben" (i.e. to have), and some are conjugated using both - "rennen" (to run) being one of those. Although I must say that it is far more common to use "hebben" instead of "zijn" nowadays, I believe the latter has the oldest credentials. Some might argue there is also a slight difference in meaning, but that is highly arguable.

Does that help in any way? I'm not an expert on Dutch... :-\\
