When setting the temperature I keep forgetting that the first button you push sets it to high; then you have to set the temperature.  So to get 350 deg for example you have to push 3 3 5 0.  I keep trying to set it (as far as the oven is concerned) to 50 so it bleeps (same bleep as "I'm at the right temperature") and then switches off and I fail to notice!

If I recall correctly we had one day last winter when school was cancelled for this reason.  we also had messages about making sure children wrapped up to wait at the bus stop (cool kids don't wear coats apparently) and making sure the house was open so kids could get inside when they came home.

Some of our kids have to walk a mile or so up their lanes - buses only run on roads, they do not enter private lanes...  So that would be a long time outside.

Our school is 100% bused in it is also mostly rural with 4 small towns (500 or so less people in each).. So busing is a huge issue

Here it depends on the age of the children and whether there are sidewalks or not.  So Elizabeth has to walk down our driveway and a little way along the street to wait with a group of kids (max distance about half a mile).  James just walks to the bottom of our driveway (we are the last house on this road in the catchment area and there is not a sidewalk to the next nearest house with kids at the same school). 

The high school and middle school buses tend to stop at the top of a cul de sac whereas the elementary bus often goes down to the bottom (depending on the size of turning space I guess).  In some parts of town they could be walking a mile or more home.

My boss has like...15 pairs of shoes under his desk.  I am not exaggerating.  I really hate it.  I cannot stretch my legs out at all.  I don't know how he sits here all day.
