I am caught up in all but 2 classes (both the same class- ) but they are projects, that I need to grade... ANd unfortunately some students did not do them :P

My husband used to be a teacher, too-until he retired. I USED to be a certified teacher but only subbed. Never had my own classroom. I have since let my certification lapse.

One thing I hated about being a sub was being called at 5 a.m. to be asked about coming in-this was when I stayed up late the night before. I hated to say no too many times because they wouldn't call me.
In my subbing days, I was a:
Math teacher
Gym teacher
Art teacher
Music teacher
Reading teacher
Health teacher
English teacher
Special Education teacher
2nd grade teacher
5th grade teacher
7th grade teacher
8th grade teacher
Teacher's aide
You never know from one day to the next.

One of the reasons my wife isn't a teacher anymore.
Teachers used to have lots of respect from students and collegues. Not the same anymore.

Precisely... :P We are never told what we are doing right... WE are always told how things are wrong. If we did the same thing to students they would banish us. We cannot really correct students, heck the parents don't either.... :P

It physically hurts me... I hate failing a child. But how can I give them a grade for something they didn't even attempt. And when I ask them about it - they say they just didn't do it :\'(

And if you attempt to fail a student, the parent is all over you "Why are you failing my kid"
When I went to school, if kids were failing, the parents would support the teacher.
"Good, you failied my kid. He/she doesn't work hard enough, maybe this will wake him up"

I wish I wasn't in the job... I love teaching, but I hate the work ethic some students have (or don't have) :\'( I try and make my lesson plans of value, and with purpose (a career paper, breeds project, designer breeds etc...) So much work...

I had a teacher feel so bad about giving me an F she actually gave me an F+
I asked if that meant I didn't really fail... she said "no you failed you just didn't as poorly as you could have" ;D

no you don't I leave my dog for 12 hours at a time.. she's fine... bored but fine.
Ok... that I can see - although I am not sure if my dog could stay kenneled for much over 10 hours - but if you leave over night and such
