It is the youth (at school) that uses modern measurements (kilo, etc) but the older genernation still prefer the imperial measurements.

Born in the UK ... I grew up with 'miles'. Also, I gained my first ever driving licence in the USA ... so, 'miles' comes naturally to me ... even though they DO use 'kph' over here. Knowing this site's audience is largely American .. it makes sense to speak in those terms. Finally, the 'Speed' film reference .... is DEFINITELY referred to in mph. :)

I have been to Paris. It was an overcast day with drizzle, the clouds were low and only the bottom half of the Eiffel Tower could be seen.

yeah I think the downside of going to Paris France is that it is very commercial now and also ridiculously expensive even for a coffee and croissants..I had visions of walking down the Champs Elysee then into pretty lanes with quaint antique shops and it being like a scene from Jules et Jim/L' Appartement/Les Enfants du Paradis etc but I suspect this would not be the case unless your actually French and know where to escape the hoards of tourists (me et al) ;D

Actually, I learnt some new techniques ... just today .... and over the last week, have picked up some substantial new ones ... which ... well if I'd known about some of the tools / way to do things ... could've done a much better job in the past, and with much less effort / time. However, still have heaps to learn ...
