fudge to noisy fireworks.

I need to get James in bed soon to catch up on the sleep he missed whilst at camp this weekend.  But there is a very loud fireworks display going on more or less across the road (I mean shaking the windows loud!) so it's a bit pointless trying to get him to go to sleep

Oh it started in the UK?

Oh it started in the UK?
A history lesson...

"After Queen Elizabeth I died in 1603, English Catholics who had been persecuted under her rule had hoped that her successor, James I, would be more tolerant of their religion. James I had, after all, had a Catholic mother. Unfortunately, James did not turn out to be more tolerant than Elizabeth and a number of young men, 13 to be exact, decided that violent action was the answer.

A small group took shape, under the leadership of Robert Catesby. Catesby felt that violent action was warranted. Indeed, the thing to do was to blow up the Houses of Parliament. In doing so, they would kill the King, maybe even the Prince of Wales, and the Members of Parliament who were making life difficult for the Catholics. Today these conspirators would be known as extremists, or terrorists.

To carry out their plan, the conspirators got hold of 36 barrels of gunpowder - and stored them in a cellar, just under the House of Lords.

But as the group worked on the plot, it became clear that innocent people would be hurt or killed in the attack, including some people who even fought for more rights for Catholics. Some of the plotters started having second thoughts. One of the group members even sent an anonymous letter warning his friend, Lord Monteagle, to stay away from the Parliament on November 5th. Was the letter real?

The warning letter reached the King, and the King's forces made plans to stop the conspirators.

Guy Fawkes, who was in the cellar of the parliament with the 36 barrels of gunpowder when the authorities stormed it in the early hours of November 5th, was caught, tortured and executed.

It's unclear if the conspirators would ever have been able to pull off their plan to blow up the Parliament even if they had not been betrayed. Some have suggested that the gunpowder itself was so old as to be useless. Since Guy Fawkes and the other conspirators got caught before trying to ignite the powder, we'll never know for certain.

Even for the period which was notoriously unstable, the Gunpowder Plot struck a very profound chord for the people of England. In fact, even today, the reigning monarch only enters the Parliament once a year, on what is called "the State Opening of Parliament". Prior to the Opening, and according to custom, the Yeomen of the Guard search the cellars of the Palace of Westminster. Nowadays, the Queen and Parliament still observe this tradition.

On the very night that the Gunpowder Plot was foiled, on November 5th, 1605, bonfires were set alight to celebrate the safety of the King. Since then, November 5th has become known as Bonfire Night. The event is commemorated every year with fireworks and burning effigies of Guy Fawkes on a bonfire.

Some of the English have been known to wonder, in a tongue in cheek kind of way, whether they are celebrating Fawkes' execution or honoring his attempt to do away with the government."

No, it isn't the double down.  It is a sandwich on a hawaiian bun, whatever that is.  I don't think there was cheese on this one.  It just looks yummy.

I know a couple people stopped because it the fun sort of got sucked out of it. Some people who play games are very regimented and have no tolerance for the little mistakes or oversights... they may think they are being helpful but really when someone jumps on you for thinking you are in a link game when you are in a chain or giving a movie title when you meant to give a tv one it just makes you feel like crap.  :-\\

I don't understand why people can't let it go.  I used to pm a certain player I spent a lot of time online with. Everytime he made a mistake I'd send hm a pm that said ooohhhh you're gonna get it!! and sure enough someone was there to point out the error  ::)

I say just accept the answer and play on... who friggin cares... it's supposed to be agame... a game without winners shouldn't have rules.

There was an episode that was supposed to air on Monday but it got pulled because Matt Lauer finished editing his interview with Dub so it got aired instead... it wasn't on the schedule middle of last week so I assume they made the decision to air it Monday at 8 before 5 pm on friday

No - but a fireplace can have a chimney fire and sparks/embers can exit through a chimney; lighting surrounding things on fire :D

And even though not many house fires, the fires you do have take down hundreds of houses :P

Nothing to be sorry about.  I just have no desire for a fireplace in my home, I don't like maintaining it, or getting the wood etc... I am perfectly fine with a campfire, firepit, outside!  If I ever have a fire place inside, it will be a flip the switch gas one.

Nope no screen was going to do it - they were both chimney fires - evident by not the first floor being burnt (where the fireplace was), but the second floor (my brothers room, bathroom, and hall) being torched.  twice

AAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUHHH which is why we do kennel Miley... I know it is for her safety, she chewed threw the computer charger while we were here, and it was plugged in. I can only imagine (and all the undigestibles she would consume, to be taken out later)

fudge the dumbass chick who just called me  ::)  you guys know I only save my fudges for the especially stupid  and this one qualifies...

HER: Yes, I'm hosting an event at the student union and my guest are complaining because there is a lot of smoke and it smells really bad.
ME: Ma'am there's smoke because there's is a piece of construction equipment on fire. (in that area)
HER: Oh I know but can you tell me when they can clear out the smoke?
ME: Ma'am the fire department is working on extinguishing the fire.
HER: Well how long is it going to take.
ME: I don't really know, unfortunately fires don't come with strict guidelines about how long they will burn.
HER: Well my guests are complaining.
ME: Thank you for calling.  ::)

not specifically especially if it's warranted... it's the mundane everyday stuff that we have a moratorium on.

My bus driver today, started to make up his own rules for travelling on his bus, letting more people on in through the wrong doors (which should be exit only). We do have to take into account the awful weather here, and the passengers wish to be out of the rain, and when all were on, he (the driver) refused to drive the bus because there were too many passengers standing, and of cause, no one would budge!

Okay people brace yourselves.....ready? Here it comes:

Fudge Deby, matt, John, and Brian. And fudge the chief for continuing to listen to them.
Fudge Vickie and mike for standing by and doing nothing.
Fudge Cathy for listening too and trying to play both sides against the middle.
Fudge the officers for being to stupid to recognize they are being duped by an incompetent leader and her royal bitchiness and her crew.
(if you post any of this on fb I will never talk to again :P)

Fudge the mom at the laundry and her five bratty kids.
