Icehouse Lyrics

We Can Get   Drown Together Lyrics

There must be something we can talk about
and maybe there's something here that we can do
no matter what your friends say, don't go too far
remember there's just one thing
whenever you come this way
you know I wouldn't get you down
I just like talking to you

It's raining outside
I shake my shoes, downstairs
you never stop dancing
you don't make much sense
no matter what your friends say
don't go too far

remember there's just one thing
whenever you come this way
maybe we can get drown together
we can get drown together
you know I wouldn't get you down
I just like talking to you
maybe we can get  DROWN together
we can get DROWN  together
later sometime

Kids are very clever at 'divide and conquer' with the parents .... playing them off against each other.

You and your husband need to be in total agreement on how to handle her ... AND more than anything ......send her a CONSISTENT  message of how her behaviour will or will not be tolerated. Good behaviour gets rewarded / praised ... bad behaviour ....

like Al said ninny, it sounds real heavy and kids are good at dividing parents in a battle, sometimes not intentionally. I am so sorry it's escalated into this. Do your best to be calm and sane.  I've had some bouts and yelling matches with my teen (18 now) and have always feared your situation. I hope she comes home and that there can be reconciliation between her and dad, even if counseling is needed. I just know us dads aren't very good at communicating and depend or expect our wives to help us, and in many cases we end up with wife/mom and daughter mad at us, but in this situation, I wish he would have backed off a little and try to undeerstand Melissa as best as possible and the multitude of changes she's going through as a teen. Sometimes I have to force myself to just shut up and keep from saying something harmful or stupid. Not an easy thing to do, but better than an all out nuclear assault. please keep Hope ninny  :)

I guess I would be at fault, when she ask to go somewhere or do something her father usually says no,but then she starts screaming and carrying on "Mom Mom and she doesn't stop till it finally gets to the point that I convince my husband to cave in and let her go.there are times when there is no reason for her not to go,but neither will cave in,He's on the phone telling me that he wishes she never was born, she yelling I hate him,why did you marry him,and I'm about to have a nervous breakdown.

I had a friend in High School once, whose sister pulled something similar to what your daughter pulled.
This girl claimed that their dad was sexually molesting her (which he wasn't), and she was made a Ward of the State. He had to do time, and lost his position in the Security firm where he worked.
Even though she later recanted her statement & said she said it because she was pissed off, they wouldn't release her back home.

Also to let you know that if you can keep things decent now then your daughter will probably be a changed person in a couple of years.  I was a holy terror for a couple of years but everything came good in the end.

Carlos says that people enter this tunnel about the age of 12 or 13. They usually emerge from that tunnel about the age of 18 or 19 and you hope that they come out on the other end as human beings.

Wow Janine I too am sorry you're going through this as well.

I have no kids so my advise isn't much but you keep talking about the volatile relationship your husband and daughter have...how is your relationship with her? Maybe the two of you can sit down and talk things through without your husband.

How did your daughter react with your first stroke. I imagine the stress can't be good for you maybe rational heads can prevail...let her know how you're feeling hell guilt her into doing something for your sake if for no other reasons.

Maybe look at the rules that are in place and see if any can be changed or done away with. I think if she sees you're trying to work with her rather than controlling her she might be more open to dialogue..if she is pregnant tho...there isn't a whole lot you can do about it...three options really accept that it happened, let her know you love in spite of her anger (you just maybe don't like her very much)  and see where you can go from there.

What do I know ... its easier to analyze from where I'm sitting...good luck to you and I'm always available if you need a friend.. I can listen too.

I always thought we had a good relationship,I admit there have been times she has tried my patients and I have things I shouldn't have, but usually I'm the one she comes to if she has something to tell me,We moved about 3 months before my stroke, then the summer I was recovering is when she started to go wild, take off with her friends, meet boys, she knew I couldn't chase after her and my husband was working the swing shift.
I talked to her on myspace and she said she has things to deal with.

Right now I think the people she is staying with are filling her head full of garbage,so she wont listen to me,and she certainly wont talk to her dad.I talked to her briefly on myspace and she said she is going through alot and she needs time, plus she said CPS told her to stay there.

I feel low... I worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday....

showed up on Saturday to give a test to hire new dispatchers but only one person showed up so my boss said I could leave...that means I got up at 6am showered and drove 15 miles ( 30 round trip & who can afford the gas), and paid $10 for donuts

Now its Sunday and I forgot about Daylight Savings Time so I woke up at 530 only to find it was really 630 and was late for work...only by 10 minutes tho because I drove 95MPH the whole way  ;D

I have to work 14 hours today - no lunch no break  >:(
14 hours tomorrow - no lunch no break  >:(
and 10 hours on Tues.... Tuesday is normally my day off.

That Saturday .... $10 for donuts ...... are you saying you didn't get paid for that day though ? Hardly your fault if virtually no one shows up. You SHOULD get paid for that day IMHO .... and if not, I'd be looking for alternative employment, as opposed to 'slave labour' !  >:(

Oh I get paid for the 1hr and 1/2 I waited for people to show up but I would've rather stayed in bed... I was supposed to work 0800-1200 I went home at 0945. But I had initially requested the whole day off because of the schedule I worked. I was granted the day off but then they scheduled the test and I had to show up for that. I was only let go because the others testees didn't show up...If they had I would've worked until noon that day.

I do work long hours...which I don't mind but this no lunch no break thing is ridiculous...especially on a 14 hour shift.  I have to call a police officer in just to go to the bathroom.

yeah we have a union but its kind of ass backwards because the dispatchers fall into the same union as Admin Assistants (secretaries). The Dispatchers make 10 - 15 more an hour so whenever we complain they pretty much could care less because they are jealous of what we make.

Truth is, we are short staffed and only have one dispatcher on duty a lot of the times. Legally we cannot leave the 911 lines unattended that's why no breaks- we're not allowed to leave the bldg for any reason...though if the place catches on fire I'm outta here I don't make enough to die for this place!  ;D

Anyway, none of the officers know how to do my job...not because they can't but because they don't want to... they know we can't leave but always forget to give us bathroom breaks or check and see if we need anything.

Not really supposed to spend a lot of time online but they don't mind too much as long as we stick to the right websites and get our work done keep our priorities straight.

Guess what though.  This is the absolute truth (so help me) ....  :-X  8-P

I've no idea how they measure this   :-X   (Don't think I wanna know either !   :-X   )  .....

I have read in a highly respected newspaper in Australia .... 'The Sydney Morning Herald'  no less .....   :o  .... in a supplemental magazine .....that a certain University study concluded that female ....... umh  ....... as opposed to male ..... uhm ........ had a higher 'pong' factor .... to

put it in more common terms ?
???   :o

I wonder if that's because many women are told that it is not polite to fart and therefore hold it in until it really has to escape?  Whereas many men just 'let rip' whenever

I'm not really low but I am dissapointed. Someone was not talking nice things about me behind my back today but didn't have the presence of mind to check to see if I was in the room or not, so I have been re-evaluating my friendships and what I require from them.

It's cool. There are a set of people at work who get a lot of pleasure from talking about others behind their back (which workplace doesn't I guess). At least I successfully avoid them for the majority of the time.

Didn't you have "issues" with them before or is this a different set of people?

It's all kind of linked in a way (I think anyway). They are in a gang and I completely deny all existence of one person but the other two or three I am realising they are just as bad after looking back over the past six months or so. Interesting really because one person I had a crush on . . . at least I am cured of that. :)

That sucks...It sometimes seems that people don't change even when they get older, childish behavior like this starts in school and contains when they get older in the workplace......I've had several people who I thought were friends only to find out laterthey weren't >:(
