I've been at my current residence since June of '06, so just slightly over a year.
The longest I've lived anywhere was between the time I was born (1982) until 1994 - making that 12 years.

For about 2 years now. My previous residence was a semi, and I lived there from June 1985 - November 2005. I know it's June of 1985 because I had to do a research project in college that showed how long I had lived in the place i currently resided in. We were the second people to live in that semi, which was built around '77 or '78

My father was thinking about selling our house cause we've living here for so long(over 35 years) that he might not want to cause he's afraid if someone makes him an offer,He might regret it later. There are so many memories(happy and sad)in this house that it's hard to let go.From the day I was born to the time of my brother's passing, memories are there to capture the moment.Do you ever feel sometimes that you want to sell your house? ???

I lived in the same house until I got married. Where I live now is the third house we've had together. I did find moving stressful each time and said I'd never do it again but if we really had to do it I would.
I guess it's different if you've lived in the same house for a long time. Perhaps your parents are thinking about moving to a smaller place?

I don't know.My father is going to be 66 in October so maybe give him about 5-10 years to still think about it.Moving to a smaller place is possible but I don't know what will happen to me? :(

I could do that for most (but I don't think all) of the houses I lived in-if not the exact date, but definitely the month & year-and there have been many, many of them. I have to figure out exactly how many.

About a month and a half now. It's a single room in a shared house but I'm loving it. Ironically, everything is bigger than my old flat (apartment) including the bathroom and kitchen. The garden is lovely and big too and I enjoyed weeding last Sunday in the sun - which is unusual for me as I barely have a green finger on my hand, lol.

Well, sort of. Please don't freak out, but it's a residential alcohol rehabilitation unit. After 3 years of heavy drinking due to personal problems I've finally got a funded place- here for 16 weeks getting my head & body sorted after drying out. :)
On a more personal note, good to see you're still around, Howard, as you are one of the users I remember from my previous time here, around 4-5 years ago, when I was just Goodsin. And you still have that great sense of humour! If you're interested in more details of my current situation, send me a PM & I'll respond, rather than hijacking this thread & boring other users...cheers, as we say in the UK- or perhaps that's no longer appropriate for me... ;)

Yep, it's pretty good so far, but early days, thanks for asking. Like I said, I don't want to hijack this thread, so I may start a thread about people's experiences with alcohol problems & treatment somewhere else (hardly appropriate for a Playful Penguin Place!), unless there's one somewhere already. If you want to hear the full gory details, let me know & I'll send you a PM. Thanks, Howard!

Wow, Howard, can't imagine living in the same house for that long. Even before I left my parents at 17 I'd lived in 6 different houses in the same area; since then, probaly about 15 in different areas. I even lived in a caravan as what they called a "New Age Traveller" for some time, and have fitted in time to be homeless in between; after I get out of here, I'm going to a halfway-house for a bit, and then have been made the offer of living on my friend's new farm in the middle of nowhere. I feel like a nomad! (Now where can I get one of those, at this time of the day??) :D

I've lived in flushing for 40 years and have relatives in Bayside. Who knows, maybe our paths have crossed at one time or another.
I always hated Flushing, something about the Chinese and Japanese residing there.

My parents moved to Bayside in 1970,My brother(god rest his soul) was born in 1971,then I was born in 1974 but they moved to 214th street in 1973 where I now live and let me tell ya,this house has had a lot of memories, jam packed.

I think there's a thread in the Tenacious Tuxedo Talk section

I wouldn't want to work there,It just gets very overcrowded and once you get off the Q27,you get lost easily.

How true. Flushing, in the Main St & Roosevelt Ave area (the "Hub") was very congested by the time I left in 2006. It was so difficult trying to walk down the street. Too crowded. Even in the Murray Hill neighborhood where I lived I'd have to wait for a procession of people to pass by before I could walk out my front gate. It became that ridiculous! The town must be way overpopulated by now. What a contrast from growing up there in the 60's when the neighborhood had a very sleepy and suburban feel to it.

I think The Motor Vehicles Dept is over there.

The DMV is on the other side of Main street & Northen Blvd near the Flushing/College Point border. Not far from the 'Whitestone Lanes' Bowling Alley.
