Yeah, ONJ ( & E.L.O.) are always good to go...

You know, to this day I've still never watched the movie... :)

wow, maybe you shouldn't  ;D  I saw it with my buddy (another ONJ fan) when it opened in the theatre like 1980, then a couple days later I took my girlfriend to see it. We broke up, and then a short while after, I took my new girlfriend to see it. ;D  I love the music in that film, all the songs. We saw Olivia at the Wente Vineyards Amphtheatre in Livermore and her first song was Xanadu. that was pretty cool and she's a fox.

The whole soundtrack (love it) tempts me to watch it.  The premise of the show along with the reviews tells me I should be quite stoned while viewing...

Hmmm, I may be onto something, there...

Took two successive squeezes to see it?  Egads!  The make out movie that year was, I think, Blue Lagoon.  The squeeze was Donna the leggy blond.  Ah, those were the days...

I'm putting on the Xanadu CD right now groove ;) on...

2nd squeeze is now my wife. I was on a roll that year  ;D  watching Xanadu stoned may be a little freaky  :o  I like Michael Beck (Swan from The Warriors) as ONJ's love interest & Gene Kelly is, well he's friggin Gene Kelly. It doesn't matter how goofy or cheesy people say the film is, he's a class act.  **Warning**  there is a animation sequence. I can say no more  ::)
Blue Lagoon and Donna the leggy blond. good times... goooood times  ;)

yes it's a greatest hits, but there are some songs missing that should be on it. A Space In Time is a good album & I'd Love To Change The World is such a good song from a cool period in time.  ^ good choice above but it's Queen, so can hardly go wrong  :)
my favorite Ten Years After albums are Rock and Roll Music To The World (hard to find on cd) and Ten Years After Recorded Live, I have that one & it's quite good.

Indeed it does.. but "Afraid to Shoot Strangers" is a phenomenal song, I don't care what anyone says.

Listen to it one of these days, I figured it out on piano entirely by ear and I've been playing it.. everyone loves it.

You know what's a weird song on piano? "Oslo in the Summertime."

I've never played it.. but yeah, that would be a weird song on piano... does it really follow a key signature? I know the rhythms, especially on the vocals, are weird..

I think it's in G minor.

I think it's in G minor.

I'll mess around with it tomorrow before work. I recently discovered I have a talent for figuring things out by ear (like the Iron Maiden song) on piano (I'd always tried on guitar and failed)... never really tried with "Oslo In The Summertime", though... I'll give it a shot.

It's pretty easy. I figured out the basic bass riff while listening to the song once.

I don't often actually TRY to figure stuff out.. most of the time it just happens.. but I do have the ability from listening to figure out a lot of things.. I got this one Nightwish song after listening to it twice.

I can often tell what chords are playing, but not the notes in the melody or anything.

I can identify G major and B flat major all the time, and sometimes F sharp Major.. but I can't readily identify chords by ear otherwise.

;D  that's ok Davester, you can put down music you're thinking about buying if you want. so what if it's slightly off topic.

Today, I listened to 'A Casual Introduction (1981/2001)' by Edwyn Collins and Orange Juice.
It's a retrospective of Edwyn's career, but it doesn't include all the Orange Juice hits, which I still don't like about the CD

I was checking out a couple of Doobies clips on YouTube, I think from the Live at the Wolf Trap DVD, and they're still rockin' in fine style...

Was it current where the boys are like 60 years old? or older vids when they were young rockers with long hair?  man I tell you, youtube has allowed me to see bands I thought I'd never get to see. I love it.
as for music, I listened to KISS .  I had asked for the single CD Alive! from 1975 for Christmas

Live at the Wolf Trap is actually from 2004.  Pat Simmons has the bobbed doo going on, now.  I always liked him better at lead than Tom Johnson, but only slightly...

Oh wow, the box set?  That includes Double Platinum, too?  I bought Alive! On CD last year (the Mini LP sleeve).  Heard it for the first time since I was a kid.  Man, I loved that album...

I think the Doobie Brothers are still touring.  I'll have to check out  Live at the Wolf Trap and see how it sounds.

yeah, the KISS I got was a total bonus.  but the one you got is the one I wanted, and I got it and more

Today I am making a mix for a co-worker.  she loves the 70s and has no idea I am in the 70s band.  so i said 'yeah, i might have some...i'll make a CD for you".
my point being, i have been listening to these pop songs because im' making this disc.

You should put some Residents on there, just to show that when you love the seventies, you probably don't mean ALL of it.

It's amazing how the same music I've listened to for so many years sounds suddenly so much better with an awesome set of headphones.

Sitting in my rocking chair this evening, I just listened to 5 CD's & I had the volume turned way up with the Bose headphones 8)

The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker
Poison - Flesh and Blood
Aerosmith - A Little South Of Sanity
Boston - Greatest Hits
Santana - Abraxas
