I think we've done good, i also snuck a couple peeks at her aim messgs and boys have talked about "would you do this, would you do that? and her replies broght a tear to my eye when I read, I'm not that kind of girl.  :\'(  I trust her and really, what more can we do. did you see the movie with Tony Danza and Amy Dolenz, *She's Out Of Control*  that is a great movie about this situation between a father and a daughter who is maturing and blossoming into a young woman. It's funny

I haven't watched anything with Tony Danza in it since "Taxi" went off the air but I'm glad your daughter is going to remain STD-free :)

Oooh, I'm gonna have to veto that.  I know you mean well, you're a super guy and a great dad.  But take it from someone who was that age at one time.....if I found out my dad had been reading convos I was having with other people, I would have flipped my sh*t.

i guess i was just parent-whipped but my folks did stuff like that and though i didn't like it, i didn't totally flip out.

course, my mom's always been kinda hard core.

they threw away all my comics once. they also once decided all my records were evil and threw them away too. they couldn't go through my email cuz, you know, electricity hadn't been invented yet, but if they could have i'm sure they would have.

i was a real handful though. i'm sure i was more of a hellion than your little ones, BFf.

I think what you did is ok as long as you only do it once in a while.  She's not 18 yet and she still lives in your house and therefore she has to follow your rules and you are still responsible for her behavior.  

My oldest sister did this with her 14 year old son.  He is a great kid...got passed up a grade, he's in honors classes and still gets A's and B's, so this seems like a kid you could trust, right?  Not if he's got girls coming onto him. ;D  Some how my nephew got involved with these two sisters who came from a not-so-together family.  So the girls were being very forward with him and asking him to sneak out of the house in the middle of the night and asking him to come over to their house after school to drink...crap like that.  So anyway, this is the information my sister found out by looking at his messages.  

Even though this is a violation of privacy, it's the parents job to check up once in a while because if you don't, who knows what trouble they could be getting in.

I only did it once or twice a couple of years ago, I liked how she handled herself and have never done it since, and would not unless her safety was concerned. and she can get really mad  :o

My sister and I have mastered the fine art of arguing with one's father.  See, daddy thinks he's right....we know he's wrong.  So we tell him he's wrong, tell him to be quiet and walk away before he can register.  A couple hours later, he comes upstairs and apologizes and that's that. 

Sometimes, he's right and we're wrong.....but like we'd admit that.  ;D
