On a similar note, we have plenty of recyclables that need to be taken care of, but I will wait until my dad is home so that we can go take them there together. It's a huge task for one person to do.

I hear ya, my tv is about 10 years old and very heavy.
We once had a tv set that worked well for 17 years, but we had to replace it because we got a new VCR/DVD unit that wasn't compatible with it. The TV itself still worked just fine.
And now we have a high-definition TV screen which is great, especially since most tv shows are filmed in HD these days.
