Actually, the orange of the moon is caused by it being low in the sky. When it's low in the sky, the light from the moon has to travel through more air than usual, and more light is absorbed, causing an orange color. It's the same with sunset. When the sun's low in the sky, more light is absorbed, causing the different colors of the sunset that we all know and love. :)

Although in many parts of the world.. there is another.. unfortunate reason.

I collect these vintage/antique Christmas elves/pixies. My great grandmother had a bunch of them and passed them down to my mom...but they deteriorated over the years and fell apart. I am trying to replace them and add to my collection. There were 3 small ones in the box that I found.

OMG!! We used to have TONS of those back in the 70's.We used to hang them on our tree and one was a couple in the middle of mistletoe. Unfortunately they started to fall apart and the last one was tossed out 2 years ago. :-\\

The town I grew up in had one of those. Where I live now is too big, although you could go downtown and the Mormon Temple is well lit and beautiful this time of year.
There is a neighborhood that changes it's name to Christmas Street every year. It is a half a block long and a dead end. You drive in with your lights off and all the houses are decorated. A couple of blocks over there is a neighborhood that the houses each take a verse from the Christmas story and decorate according to their verse. It is pretty cool.

Oh man. As the sun bounces off the of the snow and it just sparkles. And the limbs of the trees are heavy with the freshly fallen snow. That's why I moved here to Vermont. But yeah, the driving in it sucks but here they are prepared for it and the people who drive the snow plows/salt/sanders are really hard working people-sometimes they are out all night.
The funny thing is, when I tell people I am from Vermont, after they ask "What state is that in?" ::) they think that we are above the Artic Circle and have 12 ft of snow year round. Looking out the window right now, there is only about 1/2 inch on the ground-IF that much and that had come down within the last 24 hours. Yesterday, the ground was completely bare of snow.

You get a Christmas bonus you had no clue was coming. Along with the bonus check is a personal note from the boss saying that making you the Supervisor was the smartest thing they had done. :) (gave me warm fuzzies anyway)
