hello ^^. < got a couple greeting cards from folks here and overall fairing well.  A bit chilled with our heater on the blink and frosty temps at night, but at least it's not flooding or snowing where I am.  Hello ^ also.

Hello ^ & to ^^Yea, even tho my hands are turning blue and my lips are cracked and sore I know the weather is worse, much worse anywhere else.  The rain storms, the snow storms, the slush of it all when it's over. I may be "cold" but I still know I'm lucky....then I throw on another blanket and happily go to sleep, safe under a solid roof. 
  Um, the problem started in August. the fan started running and would not stop/turn off. then it stopped blowing cold. even tho we had the thermostat on automatic so it was supposed to turn on, then after a certain time turn off again.  So, now we switched to heat and the fan still blows cool air and does not cycle off.  My dad changed the thermostat box and wiring thinking it was an old connector or soemthing keeping the fan going but it's still doing the same.  The sad thing is, we have a fireplace but we can't keep a proper blaze going either. So, we're just sitting here bundled up.

XD The irony of the situation is that I'm in California, too! =D

no clue.  it's large and a central heating/cooling unit at least 12 years old. in it's own cabinet inside the house with a square grill and there's some reflex arm bit that stays in position n keeps the "fan" running so we've removed the grill to release the arm and replaced the grill at a slight angle so everything is covered, but the arm doesn't trigger the fan.  You know what I mean?
