a tomato starts to turn red the damn squirrels take it. So far this season I harvested 6
tomatoes. They weren't quite ripe but I had to take them before the squirrels did. The
rabbits ate all the branches off my bell pepper plants, I was only able to get 1 pepper.
The only plants left alone by the wildlife are my cucumbers and corn, and the only thing
I can get off of them are retarded vegetables. ARRRGGGHHH

Okay my rants over, I feel better now.

black pepper, cayenne pepper and a product called Critter Ridder. All to no avail.

I am thinking about running dry wall screws through some plywood and putting that around the plants
and see if that helps. It's just so frustrating.

The boy just bought a blow gun, I'm going to give that a try. We are too close to neighbors for
anything else. The blow gun has nice sharp darts and it will be quiet. It might not kill them but it
will sure hurt like hell.

If you go the blow gun route, be sure to tip the darts with something like iodine. Not only does it keep them away, but it gives them a stinging reminder.

Another method is to get a squirrel trap- similar to cat traps- you don't hurt the things, but you can safely get rid of 'em.

Okay, it's war now. The squirrels must know I have a blow gun. This morning there was a half
eaten tomato in my garden. Thing is, the tomato wasn't mine. Is this the squirrel version of the
horse head in the bed? The squirrel mafia is calling me out? Don Squirrel doesn't know who he
is dealing with. His rabbit goon squad doesn't stand a chance either. This is war and it won't
be pretty.  >:(
My parents put something ON the tomatoes to keep them away.  I'll see if they know what it's called.  The only thing is you have to make sure to rinse them before you eat them.

FYI:  I don't burp.  I think in the almost 12 years hubby and I have been married, I've burped (maybe) 5 times :o  My kids, on the other hand, especially the littlest one, can out-burp ANYONE.  Whenever someone hears my youngest, they're like "How in the world did a noise THAT BIG come out of a body THAT SMALL???!!!" (he's only 5 ;))                        I'm so proud :)

You're on ;)  After a Scouts meeting, when the adults were standing around chatting, the boys decided to have a burping contest.....my youngest won hands down (he was only 4 at the time and the rest of the boys had Cokes to "help" ;)) ;D
