Subject: Favourite covers of Bruce Springsteen songs
Written By: whistledog on 08/11/23 at 12:20 pm
He wrote a lot of great songs, and there are many covers out there. I am curious to see some I never knew about
I will begin with Born to Run by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. It appears on their 1985 debut album Welcome to the Pleasure Dome and though it was never released as a single, they did perform it when they came to America to promote themselves: They were the guest musical act on an episode of Saturday Night Live, but were not allowed to perform their major hit Relax due to it's sexually suggestive lyrics, so they performed Born to Run instead. The slap bass solos are just fantastic!

Here is a 1985 cover of Dancing in the Dark by an American group called Big Daddy. What they did was fuse the lyrics of the 1984 Springsteen song against the music from the 1961 hit Moody River by Pat Boone and the result was just fantastic! This made it to #21 in the UK
