Subject: Favorite childhood games or board games?

Written By: violet_shy on 11/10/21 at 4:44 pm

I wanted to start this topic because there's a board game my siblings and I use to play in the late 1980s, early 1990s called Go For Broke. It was similar to Monopoly. Does anyone else remember it?

I also loved playing Connect Four! It was the best, most entertaining game ever!

I don't remember a game called "Go for Broke" but I do remember playing Connect Four.

Anyways, one boardgame I remember from my childhood was Chutes And Ladders. I enjoyed that.
There have been several renditions of the gameboard, but the one I had looked like this:

I also loved playing hide and go seek when I was a kid. I would normally play it with one other person, usually a friend at their house or at my place.

I played Hide and go seek as a kid. But it was so funny because I would hide in the most obvious places! The other person would find me in an instant. I hated it! Then I would try to find more difficult places to hide....and pretty much ruin the idea of it.

What about Marco Polo? I never understood what the idea behind it is. Is it like Hide and Go Seek while shouting Marco, and then Polo? That's what it looks like to me. Lol!

Fireball Island.  It came out in 1986 and has since been re-released as Fireball Island: The Curse of Vul-Kar.  It's a 3-Dimensional Board game where the player must roll the dice and try to reach the top of the mountain to obtain a jewel, then escape off the island while avoiding pits, fireballs (red marbles that would roll down paths) and broken bridges.  It was such a fun game!

Maybe it's random? That is, randomly chosen?

I like Candyland :)

I remember playing with it as a kid too, but I never actually owned a copy of it. (I think it was at a friend's house.)
