Wow this just gave me a new perspective on things. First comes the nostalgia then comes the disillusion. People went to calling the 1930s the decade of great character to the decade of Great Depression and World Wars. What a rollercoaster ride.

My Parents (long deceased) were teens in the 1930s and they had nostalgia for that decade and the 1940s too. Mostly the music and the films.

I'm thinking that there is still more nostalgia for the 1940's (especially post WW2) than the 1930's, because the dark, gritty film noir private detective/crime movies of that era captured the public's attention to the point that there are still movies being made today that emulate that style.
And also because even though I didn't realize it until I got older, Humphrey Bogart is one of the coolest actors of all time. 8)
