Both essentially by George Michael.

That is true, although he recorded the first one as a member of a group (Wham!), and the second one he recorded as a solo performer. The latter is often referred to as "Freedom 90" to differentiate the two.

There's plenty of songs out there simply titled "Crazy":

Patsy Cline (1961)
Icehouse (1987)
Seal (1991) - covered by Alanis in mid-2000s; gawd I hate that cover
Aerosmith (1994)
Gnarls Barkley (2006)

Note: Britney Spears was not included on the above list because the title of her 1999 hit is "(You Drive Me) Crazy" which is not an exact match. Words in parentheses do count as part of the title.

The title "It's My Life" pertains to a number of distinct songs as well (one of which underwent a notable cover):

The Animals had such a hit in 1965.
Talk Talk had such a hit in 1984; in 2003 the band No Doubt covered it.
Bon Jovi had such a hit in 2000.

There were a few others as well, according to Wiki, but these three are most recognizable.

Wow, I had not realized that Kylie recorded two different songs with that exact title. :o Ya learn something new every day.

Makes me wonder if the first one should be called "Love at First Sight '88" and the second one "Love at First Sight '02", just to differentiate 'em.

I sometimes wonder if at the time, Kylie even knew because the 1988 song was not a single, just a song to fill out a full album

I was even unaware of the 1988 song myself. (I only know the 2002 one, since that was a followup to her huge hit "Can't Get You Out Of My Head.")

Not quite. I mean, the title are almost identical, except for the fourth word (which, between the titles, are opposite in terms of gender so it may be a partial ST/DS combo).

^ A similar argument could be made for "Dream Lover" by Bobby Darin and "Dreamlover" by Mariah Carey. Some people might consider the titles to be the same, even though it is written as two words for one of the titles, and as a single word for the other title.

Speaking of same-titled songs that charted in the same calendar year, both The Cure and Tesla had hits called "Love Song" in 1989.

Sara Bareilles also had a song called "Love Song", in late 2007.

The aforementioned Cure song (its title has also been written as a single word) was also later covered by the band 311 in 2004, and again by Adele a decade ago on her "21" album.

"Stay" is the exact title of many different songs.

Shakespear's Sister (1992)
Zedd with Alessia Cara (2017)
Sara Bareilles (2012) - from her Once Upon Another Time EP; this wasn't a hit on any charts, but I personally like it

However, Lisa Loeb was not included in this list because the full title of her signature hit is "Stay (I Missed You)".

The British new wave band The Psychedelic Furs also had a song with that title, in 1984, and it did well in the band's native country (not as great elsewhere).

Good call. I always assumed it was How Far Is Heaven.

Lots of people tend to assume a title based on a recurring lyrical phrase. But "Heaven" is in fact the full title.

I remember the latter...which was one of very few instrumental hits to chart in the 1990s! It had apparently been quite popular in various European countries; and in the summer it was a moderate hit in the States. O0

I think U2's "Theme from Mission Impossible", also an instrumental, was on the charts at roughly the same time.

Yes, we did, in a much earlier post:

Speaking of same-titled songs that charted in the same calendar year, both The Cure and Tesla had hits called "Love Song" in 1989.

Sara Bareilles also had a song called "Love Song", in late 2007.

The aforementioned Cure song (its title has also been written as a single word) was also later covered by the band 311 in 2004, and again by Adele a decade ago on her "21" album.

I'm going to move on with...

"One":

the cast of A Chorus Line (first performed in 1975)
The Bee Gees (1989)
Metallica (1989)
U2 (1992)
Creed (late 1998; did well on the Hot Alternative Songs and Mainstream Rock charts in early '99)

Not to be confused with "The One", which is the title of songs by:

Elton John (1992)
Backstreet Boys (a hit in 2000, from their 1999 album Millennium)
Shakira (from her Laundry Service album which was released in late 2001; it was a hit in various countries in late 2002)

I bet there's plenty more of either title. (I made two separate lists because although "One" and "The One" may be considered similar, they are different due to the definite article.)

"Rock With You" is the title of a 1979 Michael Jackson hit; it was from his Off The Wall album.

There are two other songs with the exact same title, both from the 2000s: one by South Korean artist BoA, and another by a Belgian DJ known as Basto. (But neither are as popular as MJ's hit.)

Michael's sister Janet recorded a song with a similar, but not exact, title, "Rock With U"

Billy Joel had such a hit in 1977, from his album The Stranger; it would go on to win Record Of The Year at the 21st Annual Grammy Awards.
Bruno Mars had a hit with that title in 2010.

There were a handful of others as well, according to Wiki.

Technically speaking, the Bob Dylan song and the Rod Stewart sing might be considered the same song, or a version of the same song. Or you might say Rod Stewart "rewrote" Bob Dylan's already existing song:

The structure of the lyrics in this song is very similar to a Bob Dylan song of the same title.  After its completion, the song was then sent to Dylan, asking whether he had a problem with it. The two men agreed to participate in the ownership of the song and share Stewart's royalties.
-Wikipedia

The Rod Stewart song is credited as being written by  Rod Stewart, Jim Cregan, Kevin Savigar and Bob Dylan.

First of all, the Australian band Moving Pictures scored such a hit in early 1982:

and two years later, in 1984, the three-way collaboration of Kenny Rogers, Kim Carnes, and James Ingram had one:

We mentioned "All Around The World" several times on this thread already. But if you drop the first word, you get "Around The World", which pertains to at least two different songs.

One of them is by Daft Punk (from 1997); its only lyrics are the title, repeated ad nauseam for several minutes.

Another one is by Red Hot Chili Peppers from their 1999 album Californication; it performed well on the Alternative Rock Songs chart.

The other one is by Dave Matthews Band, and it was popular later in the year. (The album version is a whopping 8 minutes long; most radio stations play a shorter version which is half that long.)

First of all, the late UK musician John Miles had a hit with that title in 1976; it topped the Dutch charts, and also performed well in his native country (not so well in the States, however).

Both Diana Ross and Jack Johnson turned "Upside Down"...in 1980 and 2006, respectively.

Apparently, plenty of other songs have that title as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upside_Down#Songs

Here is the Jack Johnson song, btw:

Oh yes! I don't know how we missed those earlier.

In fact, I would like to do another update on titles we've covered; I think the next reply seems like a good place to do it.

For the record, I'm keeping an index - sorted by title - in a notepad file.

The first one is obviously a posthumous single, because he died three years beforehand. In fact, I'm looking at Wiki right now...and it seems he recorded plenty of music before he died, it just wasn't released yet. Interesting!

Sarah McLachlan (1997)

Another title I'm surprised we haven't mentioned yet...

"Shining Star"

Two songs by that title are well-known in the U.S.: one by Earth, Wind & Fire (early 1975) and one by The Manhattans (early 1980).

There are several others, listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shining_Star#Songs

I can think of three songs titled "Always": one from the 1980s and two from the 1990s (all by bands that were musically active during the 1980s!).

First of all, the American R&B band Atlantic Starr had such a hit in 1987; it topped the U.S. charts midyear.
The British new wave band Erasure had such a hit in 1994.
Later in 1994, the American rock band Bon Jovi released a song with that title; it reached its peak positions on most charts the following year.

I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Irving Berlin wrote a song called "Always" in 1925. It was recorded by Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline and others. Probably most memorably by Leonard Cohen on his 1992 album "The Future". Cohen famously has said that before recording it he got himself and the band drunk on a tequila drink he invented called the "Red Needle" (tequila, cranberry juice, fresh fruit) to get that boozy, woozy sound.

Interesting; I didn't see it on the long list of "Always" songs on Wiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Always#Songs - there are plenty), but it's always nice to learn about new ones. :) (However, the Wiki page for the band Firefall does list it.)

"Don't Tell Me" was the title of two different pop songs from the 2000s, both by female singers:

Madonna (late 2000)
Avril Lavigne (2004)

Dire Straits (1985), from their album Brothers In Arms
Staind (2003), from their album 14 Shades Of Grey

I'm sure there are others.

A number of different acts went "Round And Round" with different songs of that title. I happen to know three of them.

First, Perry Como had a hit with that title in 1957 (written by Shapiro & Tallman; covered by various artists).

In 1984, the hard rock band Ratt scored a hit with that title; as far as I know, it's their signature hit.

And in 1989, the British new wave band New Order had a song with that name on their Technique album, although they rendered the title with an ampersand instead of the word "and"; overall, it was a minor hit for them.

For this reason, I am excluding titles that have parenthesized words in the replies that I make, since they are not an exact match (although that issue might be subject to debate). For example, both Van Halen and Kris Kross had hits called "Jump" (in 1984 and 1992, respectively), but a particular song by the Pointer Sisters doesn't count because the full title of that one is "Jump (For My Love)".

(And according to the list that I've been keeping - which I intend to update fairly soon - "Jump" hadn't been mentioned until now!)

By the way...

However, there are a number of songs out there called "Change" which I will mention in a future post.

I guess I never got around to mentioning the songs titled "Change" that I knew.

One of them is by Tears For Fears; it was popular in 1983 (did well in their native UK; 'twas a minor hit in the States).
The other one is by Lisa Stansfield (another UK performer); it was an international hit - most notably in European countries - in late 1991.

Two different female singers had hits called "I Will Remember You" in the 1990s: Amy Grant in 1992 (from her album Heart In Motion, released the previous year); and Sarah McLachlan (first recorded in 1995 for the studio version, then again "live" in 1999 for her Mirrorball album).

Timmy T (1991) - his signature hit

A glam metal band called Brighton Rock had a really popular song in Canada with that title in 1989.  This one fit right in with the hair bands of the late 80s, but America didn't embrace this one sadly...

It is not to be confused with another song he recorded 17 years later, in 1975, in which he spelled out the title, as "T-R-O-U-B-L-E":

"I Believe" we have more titles that pertain to multiple different songs, such as this one.

One such song written by Ervin Drake, Irvin Graham (a pseudonym used by Irvin Abraham), Jimmy Shirl (a pseudonym for Jack Mendelsohn) and Al Stillman in 1953; and recorded by Frankie Laine that same year.

Another one, addressing societal problems in the world, was recorded by Blessid Union Of Souls in the mid-1990s; it was their debut single, in 1995.

To quote David Crosby "memory is one of the first things to go."  ;D  Seriously, I think it's quite a unique situation that the same band has a song with the same name by two different writers though likely not the only time it has happened. Donovan has a song called "Sleep" on his 1973 album "Cosmic Wheels" and a completely different song called "Sleep" on his 1996 album "Sutras". Both written by him. So that's a case of two different songs with the same name by the same writer.

"Rhythm Of The Night" was the title of a 1985 hit for DeBarge, and a 1994 hit for Corona. (However, some sources show "The" at the beginning of the latter title, so it may be a disagreement as to whether it may be construed as an exact match.)

I'd say it counts.  While the Corona track is technically called The Rhythm Of The Night, DeBarge danced to the beat of the rhythm of the night :)

Eleven years later, in 2013, Fantasia Barrino recorded a song with that title, with collaborations from Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott.
Five years after that, in 2018, Halsey had a hit with that title.

More than one song in pop music history has "More Than A Woman" as a title (otherwise I wouldn't be making this post!).

First of all, the Bee Gees had a hit with that title on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. It was written by the Bee Gees themselves (and they recorded it in early 1977), but their version didn't chart first. The R&B band Tavares also recorded it that same year, and their version also appeared on the SNF soundtrack. Still both versions were on the charts in 1978 (with Tavares' version outperforming that of the Bee Gees, surprisingly). Twenty years after that, a British boyband called 911 covered it, and their version fared well in Europe.

The other song with this title was a hit for Aaliyah; she recorded it in 2001, not long before her untimely death.

A decade earlier, in 1978, the Bee Gees wrote and recorded a song with that title, intending to include it on an album of theirs, but declined to do so. Instead, they let their little brother Andy record it, which he did in 1979; it became a hit for him in early 1980.

Here are two Canadians who are the life of the party!  That Aleesia song wasn't a high charting single, but it was on the radio all the time.  I had such a crush (when you watch the video, you will understand lol), I even bought the CD.  About 7 years ago, she hosted a live video on one of the social medias (I forget which one) and was answering fan questions.  I asked her if she could sing that song, and she thanked me for remembering it and then started singing it.  I was so excited!.  Man, i'm such a geek! lol

There are other songs with the title "Forever".

One was a hit for Mariah Carey in the summer of 1996, from her album Daydream which was released a year earlier.
lEgB7Z26i3A

The Beach Boys also had one in the early 1970s (song released as a single in 1971; album made in 1970). It was re-recorded in the early 1990s by actor John Stamos (who actually knew the Beach Boys personally) on a 1992 episode of the sitcom Full House; said version actually appears on an album that the Beach Boys themselves released that year.

"I'll Be There" is another title that pertains to multiple songs.

There's one from 1961 that serves as an "answer" to Ben E. King's big hit "Stand By Me" from earlier in the year (and has the same melody/chords); Damita Jo is the performer:
JZI5FyCMkoI

And then in 1970, the Jackson 5 had a hit with that title (covered by Mariah Carey in 1992):

Other songs with that title are by Bobby Darin (1960), the Escape Club (1991), Jess Glynne (2018), and the list goes on.

This one was not a hit outside of Canada, but in 1991, Alanis Morrissette had a hit called Walk Away, back in the days when she was just credited as Alanis and sang dance music.  Matt LeBlanc appears in the video as her boyfriend, which shows you just how much actors struggle early in their career lol

There is also a particular song from 1996 by the contemporary Christian band DC Talk, but that title is under dispute because it's listed as "Between You And Me" on the album, but the single cover tacks on the word "Just" in front (also, each lyrical instance of the title is in the phrase "Just between you and me").
