Subject: The class of 2014 grew up completely compared to the class of 2015.

Written By: MichaelBurton69 on 03/23/19 at 11:13 am

From experience and common sense,it's safe to say that the class of 2014(those born in late 1995-mid 1996 babies),grew up completely different than the class of 2015(those born in late 1996-mid 1997).Despite of a 1 year age difference,I don't see much similarities between the class of 2014 and the class of 2015 regarding how they grew up,despite of a 1 age difference. For one the class of 2014 were in K-12 Schooling during 9/11,while the class of 2015 weren't in K-12 Schooling 9/11. The class of 2014 could remember the early 2000s(2000-2003) on a vivid level,or in their case(2001-2003), while the class of 2015 would've been too young to remember any part of the early 2000s. The class of 2014 are ultimate 2000s kids being that they were kids during the early, mid and late 2000s, while the class of 2015 would've been too young to be "ultimate"  or true 2000s kids. The class of 2014 experienced mostly analog technology during childhood years(dial up,VHS,CRT TV's,Pre Social Media, offline gaming, etc), while the class of 2015 experienced strictly digital technology during childhood years(Social Media,HD TV's,Online gaming, iphones, etc). Also, the class of 2014 were mostly teens of the early 2010s, while the class of 2015 were mostly teens of the mid 2010s. It's simply wrong to say that the class of 2014 grew up similarly to the class of 2015, when there're so many cutoffs far as remembering things that the class of 2014 meet, that the class of 2015 doesn't meet. The class of 2015(those born from late 1996-mid 1997), and younger are safely off the Gen Z/millennial cusp and are 100% Gen Z with no millennial traits.

JackSepton you were not born in 1969 and if you were you would not be so obsessed with 1996/1997 borns.

There's not much difference. I graduated in 2010 and don't feel that different from people who graduated 2014/2015, so they definitely don't feel that different from each other. Time for a new hobby.

I am Class of 2014, and many of my good friends were in Class of 2015. Heck, I was and still am a lot closer to people a year younger or older than me, I just never really clicked much with people the same exact age as me in real life. So in short......... Your hypothesis is wrong.

I don't get how you can't see a huge difference between the class of 2014 and the class of 2015 when comparing childhoods..Yea it may not be as much of a difference now,but that's because both the class of 2014 and 2015 are in the early 20s age wise. For example, people born in the late 70s/early 80s are not that much different than late 80s babies because they are Adults. However no one would ever say that late 70s/early 80s babies had similar childhood as late 80s babies. Not that much different when comparing late 1995/early 1996 babies to late 1996/early 1997 babies, despite of a 1 year age difference due to the fact there are so many cutoffs that the class of 2014 meet that the class of 2015 don't meet. Far as childhoods and teenagehoods are concerned, they are many differences that no one can ignore, without being disingenuous due to the reasons I have already mentioned.

I honestly can't tell if you're trolling or being genuine. But if the latter, then no, I don't think there's a huge (if any) difference. And they will always be around the same age, so I don't get why you think this will change in 20 years time when they'll have even more experiences in common.

As someone who's also class of 14 I can attest to that statement. I think there are differences but It's not as big as Micheal make it seem. Sure Class of 15 may have been more influenced by snap chat, Instagram and vine but they grew up just like how we grew up.  They're just as knowledgeable about the 00s as we are. Heck, I even know 2000 borns who are well-versed in 2000s pop-culture despite only being in their single digits. Age only plays a part in what you relate to. I know core gen zers who hate trap just as most of us on this site, so you can't pigeonhole everyone in one birth-year just by a few trends.

Michael Burton trolls on various forums about how those born in January-August 1996 are Millennial while those born September 1996 onwards are Gen Z, lol. But these kinds of age-trolls aren't anything new.

I've said it many times before, the Classes of 2014 & 2015 are no different culturally. Both of us spent our peak elementary school years (1st-4th grade) in the center of the 2000's decade, making us the ultimate kids of the 00's, and we graduated HS together in the middle of the decade. We relate with a lot of things.

Actually, the only the Class of 2014 would actually be ultimate 2000s kids. The Class of 2013 were never in Elementary School during the late 2000s and the class of 2015 were never in Elementary School during the early 2000s(I don't count Kindergarten for late 90s babies).

With discussions like these, I feel high school dropouts must have it very good, since they aren't part of a class at all and therefore any posts like this have no application to them whatsoever. Guess every cloud has a silver lining.

This is mostly same with me, as I've had more Class of 2015 and 2017 friends in High School than 2016 friends. Nearly all my Class of 2016 friends are female, also, I'll also admit I'd often hang out more with girls than guys when I was in high school (because I was a horny bastard).

Now that I'm three years out, every stigma regarding what high school grade/class we were in is long dead, six feet deep. We're all equals, I'm old enough to drink and play beer pong with them, some of them are even married by now and are starting families of their own.

It's not decadelogy, it's more like generationalogy, both are still bad tho.

Nah, 1993 was rather lame. The music, gaming, and movie department that year was lacking compared to both bordering years (1992 and 1994)

:D :D :P :P ;D ;D

Excatly, I have friends a couple years younger than me and we're pretty much equal in our stage in life. Was there a shift between 14 and 15, yes there was but just like every year something changes. I know class of 17  wouldn't even care that class of 18 are the 2000s born graduate.

Wondering if MB69 is either high or a 13 year old desperate for attention.
Probably the latter.

100% of y'all are wrong. The actual proven way is this:

Before January 1st, 2002 12:00:00 AM:
Millennials

January 1st, 2002 12:00:00 AM - August 31st, 2002 11:59:59 PM:
Coolest Generation Ever

After August 31st, 2002 11:59:59 PM: Core Gen Z
