Subject: Movies with Halloween Theme (not just horror)

Written By: AcoBrasil on 10/15/18 at 1:10 pm

Looking for movies to watch this season that have a Halloween Theme.  Ones I can think of include:

1. Halloween series (duh!)
2. When Michael Calls (1970s made for TV)
3. Trick R Treat

Suggestions?

Strange there aren't more movies with the Halloween theme, considering Hollywood has done everything else to death.

There are probably more horror movies made about Christmas than Halloween.

My favorite movie that takes place at Halloween is The Lady In White.

The Nightmare Before Christmas.
E.T. (though not a Halloween themed movie it was set around Halloween.)
Once Bitten.

Halloweentown and Paranorman come to mind, but they're more kids movies.

I had forgotten about ET and Lady in White.  Good ones.

I'll have to check out the other ones for the kids.

Casper, Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Nightmare Before Christmas (kind of both a Halloween and a Christmas movie), and Ghostbusters (not exactly a Halloween movie persay, but it definitely has a Halloweenish vibe if that makes sense). If you like horror, then there's also Halloween (the original 1978 one), Nightmare on Elm Street, Interview with the Vampire, pretty much any of the classic Universal horror movies are also great (ie., Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, The Wolfman, etc.). I know that's a lot but, these are all good choices for the Halloween season.

I'm a huge horror fan so have seen most of those.  I was really referring to movies that depicted Halloween itself, though - horror or not.

How about TV specials?

Fat Albert, Garfield, Peanuts - what else?

One of the wildest, wackiest and most notorious Halloween specials from the 70s is the "Paul Lynde Halloween Special" from 1976. Look it up.  Guests included Florence Henderson, Margaret Hamilton and Kiss.

I don't know if this qualifies as a Halloween movie but it was aired in late October 1978.

Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park.
