Subject: Living Presidents when you were born

Written By: TheReignMan99 on 05/10/18 at 11:12 pm

When I was born in 1999, these were the living Presidents:

*Gerald Ford
*Jimmy Carter
*Ronald Reagan
*George H.W. Bush
*Bill Clinton (the current President at the time)

Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and Jimmy Carter (the incumbent) were all alive in 1980.

Nixon was still alive when I was born. No Presidents passed away after January 1973 (when we lost LBJ) until Nixon died in April 1994.

Richard Nixon
Jimmy Carter
Gerald Ford
Ronald Reagan

Incorrect. You were born in March 1974, so that means that Ford, Carter & Reagan didn't become President yet.

Eisenhower died in 1969, Truman died in 1972, LBJ died in 1973.

Your only answer choice was Richard Nixon :P.

Interesting factoid.

When I was born Nixon's death in 1994 was the last Presidential death. Reagan's death would happen 10 years later in June 2004.

Ex-Presidents:

Future Presidents:
Bill Clinton
George W. Bush
Barack Obama
Donald Trump

No need for "Future Presidents".

"Living Presidents" only means the incumbent and ex-Presidents who are still alive.

There was no guarantee that the future Presidents would have become President when you were born. That's why they don't count.

Why was Bush 41's presidency "the lamest"?

(Just a quick answer, don't write a long essay ;D)

I've always considered Bush I the epitome of the boring white male, the WASP, just a boring old WASPY guy who was utterly out of touch with regular people. Come on. This is the Presidency which had Dan Quayle as Vice President.

Fair enough.

However, Bush 41 did a lot more good things for this country than any Republican president in the past 50 years.

Maybe, that's why he's "the lamest" to you.

Anyways, this isn't the Politics section, we can discuss this in the Politics section if you want though.

That's right, Nixon was the only president alive during the last year-and-a-half or so of his own presidency (basically, during his incomplete second term). And he was the only former president alive while Ford was in office!

Same answer for me being born in 1996. Its weird to think that if I was born just two years earlier, Nixon would've still been alive.

Same. I don't think he has much life in him though. BTW, since you're a massive Reagan fan, do you remember his death in 04'?

I doubt it.

DUWT was only 5-6 years old when Reagan died and he's from the UK. So the likelihood of him remembering Reagan's death is extremely low.

Perhaps. I guess it just depends on how the political events related towards yourself. I was at a similar age of DUWT during 9/11, but I was also living in NYC at the time so the event definitely effected me a lot more say if I was living in California at the time.

I remember Reagan's death very well, since he lived out his post-presidential life in southern California, and was ultimately buried near his Presidential Library in Simi Valley (which is northwest of Los Angeles). (Also I was already an adult.) By the way I have not yet visited the Reagan Library, but have passed by the little road leading up to it.

You also grew up in the 1980s, so I’m assuming his death was definitely iconic in that sense as well.

Reagan's death was a pretty big event over here. I was in I think 7th grade. Right at the end of the school year. They brought a TV in - a big CRT TV in - and had us watch the funeral live IIRC. Lights dimmed. Then in my last year of High School, one of the English teachers (I forget her name) had us watch Obama's inauguration live. We watched it for the entirety of the class, from the opening ceremonies until the end of his speech. She also had us read and analyze Maya Angelou's poem that she wrote for Clinton's 1993 inaugural at some point during that school year.

Yep... and because of that, he's the first President I have actual memories of (since I was only half a year old when Carter left office).

I actually still remember when Nixon died in 1994, and I was only like 7 years old then. I don't why I remember it but it still sticks out that I remember hearing about it as a young child.

Reagan (current president at the time)
Carter
Ford
Nixon

There will be a karma for the first to do so.
