I remember Reagan's death very well, since he lived out his post-presidential life in southern California, and was ultimately buried near his Presidential Library in Simi Valley (which is northwest of Los Angeles). (Also I was already an adult.) By the way I have not yet visited the Reagan Library, but have passed by the little road leading up to it.

Reagan's death was a pretty big event over here. I was in I think 7th grade. Right at the end of the school year. They brought a TV in - a big CRT TV in - and had us watch the funeral live IIRC. Lights dimmed. Then in my last year of High School, one of the English teachers (I forget her name) had us watch Obama's inauguration live. We watched it for the entirety of the class, from the opening ceremonies until the end of his speech. She also had us read and analyze Maya Angelou's poem that she wrote for Clinton's 1993 inaugural at some point during that school year.

I actually still remember when Nixon died in 1994, and I was only like 7 years old then. I don't why I remember it but it still sticks out that I remember hearing about it as a young child.
