"Coming Up (Live at Glasgow)" by Paul McCartney was the biggest hit in the U.S. at the time I was born.
"Funkytown", as originally performed by Lipps Inc, was also at or near the top of the charts.

From December 22nd, 2001 to February 23rd, 2002, How You Remind Me by Nickelback was number one of Billboard Mainstream Top 40. Though the music video wasn't made until 2007.

Here is a fun space themed rock song that was rising up the charts the week I was born. It's called Spaceship Superstar by Prism and was written by Jim Vallance, before he became famous as Bryan Adams' songwriting partner in the 80s. It went on to peak at #63 in Canada and #82 in the United States. Not a big chart hit by any means, but it was and still is a well played radio favourite in Canada!

ABBA were popular in North America, but they weren't quite at the same level they were in Europe, and it was evident on this song titled Money, Money, Money which peaked at #3 in the UK in November of 1976. By late 1977, it had become a minor hit in North America, peaking at #47 in Canada during the first week of December, when I was born. It also made #56 in the US in November of 1977

Here is Red Hot by Robert Gordon and Link Wray. This was a BIG hit in The Netherlands but only peaked at #78 in Canada during December of 1977 and #83 in the US during October of 1977
Not a big chart hit at all this side of the pond, but it still charted which means someone was listening and it's such a fun song!

"Fame" by Irene Cara. It began climbing the charts not long before I was born, ultimately peaking by the time I was two months old.

I first learned about this song only about 5 years ago when I first saw Mamma Mia.
